The tailgate lock on my 2007 Skoda Roomster has developed a mind of its own, I wonder if anyone can advise?
The fault is intermittent. About half the time it works as expected. Other times … for instance: open tailgate to put something in. Close tailgate, get in car and drive five miles, get out (all without locking or unlocking the car) and the tailgate won’t open. Using the key fob to unlock the car has no effect. The key fob has a tailgate button (which I had never used until this fault developed); pressing and holding that results in a loud clunk and the tailgate can now be opened. (Button has to be held for about a second though; a short press has no effect.)... Read more
Component shortages and cost of living increases are two of the reasons for falling sales, but there is a third. Uncertainty.
What to buy? Petrol? Diesel? Hybrid? EV? Petrol and diesel prices are rising out of control, but so is electricity.
I can afford to wait and see, so I will be sticking with my six year old car, bought new and with only 26,000 miles recorded. Read more
Agree Sid. I will be running my six year old diesel (bought new) into the ground. Hopefully by then we will know what to buy and will hopefully be a lot more affordable.

My sons mini has a broken alternator belt. It doesn't have aircon and the belt just goes round two pulleys. Normally there is a tensioner at the top of the engine but there is simply nothing there and no visible means of tensioning the belt. I have only found one vague reference to a similar car but no solution was posted. PLEASE HELP!!! Read more
You are very likely to need a fitting tool to get that belt over the pulleys . Sometimes it is supplied with the new belt .
I hope my car never gets cloned as I don't want a new registration number issued. I have a cherished number which has been in my family for 70 years and is valued at £1500.
Why should I lose it because some low life has cloned it? Read more
I just received a penalty notice for the Dartford crossing whilst the car was in Norfolk. Tried ringing the local police and their switchboard said contact DVLA. Doesn't seem that the police are linked up or interested.
Hi, my car have passed the MOT but need to fix oil leaking on the next MOT. I was told that my oil sump gasket is gone, start to leaking quite badly. So I have purchased a gasket and RVT sealant.
When I have taken my sump off with no issue, but the car did not have a gasket on it! I am a bit confused if my car really need gasket refit with sealant or just only RVT sealant?... Read more
If you use RTV, try and keep it away from the inner edge, so it has squish room, but coat the inner perimeter of any flange bolt holes, otherwise it might weep a bit through there.
Having said that, a slight oil weeping is unlikely to do much harm.
After having owned an Arona (same model) from new for 3 years and being generally delighted with the car, I ordered a new (updated) car from the local main Seat dealer. I have now had this car for 4 days and it has 71 miles on the clock. The revisions and update to the model appear beneficial and sensible.
My problem is that the car does not come as described in that this model is described and photographed (on line and on the Seat website) as having two integral fog lights. I did not notice this omission until yesterday and on looking on the Arona users website, other owners are equally as miffed over this anomaly and conversation suggests that Seat stopped fitting these at the end of 2021. If that is the case however, they do not appear to have communicated this to their customers.... Read more
If, as you say, the answer is that you would not have bought it without front fog lamps, take it back and ask for a refund. No amount of services and cups of instant tea are going to make your fog lights appear, so just get rid of it. Our local Seat dealer always has tons of new Aronas, so I don't think it will be tremendously hard to find another.
As for the infotainment, it probably needs the firmware updates. Your dealer can do that, but I suppose it's immaterial.
The old couple who i bought the Venga from a few weeks back finally found the 2nd key, but said that it didn't work and that the Kia dealer, (when encoding the last one after they had lost it) had "messed it up"
Tried it and it opened the doors, so went to a branch of that well known High st key co, Lo and behold One new battery later, all works as it should.... Read more

I too have had a 'bad back' for nigh on 40yrs - degenerative lumbar disc disease. I doubt if you can get better than an Audi A8 equipped with 'comfort seats', (which I believe are similar to those in a Bentley Flying Spur) but you should also have in the car something which no-one has suggested so far (unless I've missed it) - a small soft feather-filled cushion. A cut-down old feather pillow would do.

Same as my Pug 207. Never use the deadlock (except accidentally).
