It seems my Brake Master Cylinder is slowly failing at only 160,000k / 99,000Miles. I'm having trouble locating a replacement down here in Australia, either factory or after market, so looking further afield to find it. I understand the required part number is 4601PO. Can anyone give me some advice to locate it please. VIN is: VF7RC4HSJ76838887. Thanks.
On the BBC website there is a video showing numerous cars getting dramatically written off by a width restriction in a road in Watford.
Apparently it was introduced a decade ago to deter larger vehicles from using the road but regular accidents have occurred in recent months since it was made even narrower.... Read more
should they not be aware of the width of their vehicle?. And why would you not be able to get through in the dark if you can get through in daylight?.
Its bad enough some drivers slow to a halt/creep through with a normal 7ft width restriction, ie with just 2 poles one on each side, which means they do not know the width of there own motor, similar to driving into a driveway, some take an age to drive in/on...
Please can someone help me with a query about a speed limit I have seen displayed on electronic boards on the M3. I have twice this weekend seen a 40 limit displayed without a red circle but also without the zmber flashing lights which Highway Code says are present for advisory limits. Is this still advisory because of lack if red circle? I cannot find an example of a limit displayed like this on any official site Read more
Unless it was on 'Smart' motorway then (AIUI) it's advisory. Only a legal limit with the red surround. No idea why the 'wig wags' were absent.
I'm looking for some advice regarding a deposit I placed on a car.
The car was advertised on Autotrader and called the dealer (not a main dealer but has a highly rated 2021 award) and placed a deposit on the car of £1000... Read more
Agreed. If the deposit was placed over the phone or online, without you visiting a brick-and-mortar premises, you're entitled to a full refund within 14 days. This is regardless of reason and should NOT be subject to a deduction if the dealer has spent money on the vehicle.#
These statutory protections are provided by CCR '13 and CRA '15....
Seems to me that a huge proportion of new cars have trim levels called something Line. Just off the top of my head I've seen S-Line, ST-Line, R-Line and N-Line. Why 'Line'?, what is is for?.
When I think of the word line, the first thing that comes into my head is doing lines at school as a punishment. Second (and this is from TV and film rather than personal experience, honest!) is lines of cocaine!. Neither of which are positive associations with the word line.... Read more
"maybe a collision avoidance system other than two blokes looking out and ring a bell."
Wouldn't have helped. The Captain was old school and would have turned it off as soon as he started the engine as the bleeping annoyed him....
My elderly neighbour lost his wife a few months ago and is now looking to sell their car as he isn't allowed to drive anymore (medical reasons). He's asked me if I know what it is worth.
It's that unicorn of a car that has genuine low miles and has been looked after by its owners.
It's the 1.0 Auto flavour with 3700 miles (yes, 3700 not 37000).
Not sure on trim level, but its the silver colour.
MOT history is a broken horn in 2015 and a cut tyre in 2019. That's it. No other advisories or failures in its lifetime.
I believe it has some service history.
Mot due Feb 2022.

From doing some checking its a chain cam / torque converter combination so presumably super reliable.
I've done a WBAC check and they reckon £3300
I've done an Autotrader search and a similar 2011 with 13K miles is up for £4995 at dealer.
So bearing in mind the frankly ridiculous second hand prices at present and that its a unicorn of a car, for a private sale, I reckon around £4k is fair but what would you pay?

For a moment I thought this was a reference to the unicorn .... :-))...
Hi all
Family member is thinking of getting a Qashqai, and I've heard pretty bad things about them so far. For example, batteries dying prematurely, apparently having the highest breakdown rate of all vehicles in the UK (thisismoney article), suspension problems, premature timing belt failure, windscreen leak---leading to water ingress, front suspension lower ball joints not seating correctly, power steering and rack/pinion problems, etc.... Thanks all. Given your opinions and written reviews, have now convinced family member to avoid.
If someone is able to provide me a radio code serial V285881 it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance Read more

Er indoors Toyota Verso 1.6 diesel is due a minor service. I normally have it done at a Toyota specialist, however I am aware the main dealer now gives a rolling warranty if serviced by them. Cost with the dealer is £190 versus around £115 with the Indy. So is it worth the extra? The car has 66k and is coming 7 years old. It has been very reliable over the past 5 years of ownership. You are actually being given a 12 month warranty for free if you have your car serviced by a Toyota dealer, there are no catches to the warranty at all.
Hello All
I recently got a Drivesmart 86 (with the BC40 rear cam).... Read more
An 8" tablet would be better mounted on the dash using a Brodit mount rather than obstructing the windscreen.
Agree with the repair kit. It might have "only" done low miles but parts fail with age as well as usage. Anything over ten years old is fair game.
