l've been with the AA for over 30 years. Never needed to use them much but when l did they were generally prompt, reliable & knowledgeable. l have roadside cover, Relay & joint cover for my daughter. Home Start, as l've been with them 33 years, is complimentary.
l know they're not the cheapest & as with any insurance policy you may not use them for years; you're paying for the peace of mind.... Read more
Hi all, I bought my car in February 2020 from a reputable dealer in the North East. Upon purchasing the vehicle it came with 6 months tax.
Fast forward 18 months and rather embarrassing I've discovered the vehicle has been untaxed for a year. Furthermore I've discovered via the DVLA that the last v5c issued was when the car was registered in 2016, hence why I've not received any tax reminders in the post. For whatever reason I've at some point genuinely thought I set up a direct debit, clearly not.... Read more
Yeah my thoughts exactly, but as the car wasn't registered in my name the DVLA wouldn't know where to send the fine.
The dealer did put 6 months tax on the car for me when I purchased it, I do remember they had a problem taxing it due to it being an ex motor bility car
Met some aquaintances this morning, Happy with their new car, EXCEPT for it keeps locking them out and Dacia have to send someone out to open it.

I was told they have increased the list price of the top of the range trim for each model due to the shortage of semi conductors and are trying to push people into lower trims which have shorter lead times.
I'm looking for a reliable car either estate or suv to last me the next 12 months until I get a new one. Maximum length of journey it will be doing is around 40 mile round trip once or twice a week, its mostly going to be used to transport my golf clubs and dogs. I really have no other requirements beyond this, just want something that will ideally last the 12 months with no significant issues. Thanks in advance for your help. Read more
2004 Toyota Yaris VVTI BLUE Hatchback Petrol Manual
I currently own a 2004 Petrol Suzuki Ignis, 54k miles on the clock. I have a friend who is selling a 2011 Diesel Nissan Juke, 70k miles on the clock.

The Juke isn't actually that great a car. They are not that reliable, poor ride, not particularly spacious for its size either in the cabin or the boot.
Plus, they look ridiculous - a cross (hybrid?) between Joke and Puke, IMHO .... :-)...
(1.6 16v Zetec Silver Top engine)
Hi. The engine on my car has always run hot since I got it, (unless I keep the heater on). Although this could be a faulty temperature gauge, you can smell burning when the gauge marker gets into the red and the cooling fan kicks in. A friend, who wondered whether there was a head gasket issue, recently tested two of the spark plugs (before his tool then packed in), and the reading showed those two spark plugs to be good/not indicating possible head gasket issues. ... You can test a thermostat in a pan of hot water. If you use a thermometer you can check the operating temperature
Yes you can, but I wouldn't bother. For the cost of a new one it isn't worth it. Besides, if it's lost some wax it'll open too late and close too early. This'll mean the engine will always tend to run hot. By all means test the old one in a saucepan if you are curious, but as I said earlier you should always renew the thermostat if the engine has ever overheated....

So local Mazda dealer was supposed to call today but didn't, had issues with them a few years back when I took a car in for trade in valuation but they never got back to me ( I'm guessing because they didn't have a car in stock I was interested in and I wasn't buying new).

Hi lads... need some help on this one.
Original Symptom:

Crank circuit is switched by a relay , controlled by the pcm . If it doesn’t start if you hot wire the starter, then it’s possible that the pcm or pats system is at fault . Have you checked for any water ingress at the pcm?
Hi All,
Would you be able to assist me with the folowwing problem please?... Read more
Unless you’re absolutely certain it’s an ecu fault, I’d have thought it was much more likely to be an electrical problem with a gear selector switch.
The legal minimum depth for tyre tread is 1.6 mm. We are advised to replace when the depth is reduced to 2mm.
I recently replaced mine with a set of leading brand tyres. On line facts give noise level, braking and fuel consumption performance. I was surprised when I measured the as new tread depth as 6mm. giving only 4mm of wear.... Read more
Nope, a quick search online to confirm my thoughts , and no one recommends fitting new tyres to front wheels regardless of being front or rear wheel drive.
