My son purchased a Focus ST3 from a dealership at the beginning of June for approx £13k. It was purchased online, paid for, and delivered a week later on the 8th June. His old car was part exchanged and he paid £400 for warranty.
The following day it had an engine service now warning, and subsequently over the course of the week reverted to limp mode. Due to the distance from the original dealer, it was booked into a Ford Main Dealer to investigate at the earliest available date on 23rd June. It required a new sensor (not sure which) and a remap relating to a recall for emissions. Ford stated it should not have been sold with this outstanding ? They also fixed the Traction Control and the Auto Stop/Start (these had been unplugged !). The car was collected on the 30th June. Cost £295 paid by the original dealer.... Read more
Excellent result, let's hope he has more luck with the next purchase.
I have a budget of £10-12k, perhaps a little higher if something stands out, and would like to get myself a large-ish (ie Golf is minimum size) second-hand car. My priority is something that is comfortable, spacious, hopefully stands out a bit and has decent performance. I am only doing around 10k miles a year so fuel costs are not my biggest concern. Also I won't be pottering aroung in it doing small journeys. We are a family of 4, all full sized adults, and wouldn't anticipate needing to carry more people than that very often. I would ideally like something with less than 60k miles but perhaps could be persuaded to go to 80k. Read more
You can get a kia approved Ceed for 12k.the approved use car comes with 7 years warranty from the date you buy.

3 owners isn't much, which is good. How long has its current/most recent owner had it?. I'm wondering if the oil leak is the reason it is now for sale?.
Not enough knowledge to say one way or t'other, but I'd be going nowhere near it without further investigation into the oil leak, how serious and costly it would be to fix....
Hi to All, and hope somebody can help. My BMW was starting okay from cold but got harder to start when warm/hot until now which it cranks but does not start. I have checked all the relays and fuses which appear to be fine, I then located the fuel pump on the drivers side under the rear seat, and fitted a new check valve and while doing this put some fuel line from the check valve into a pop bottle turned on the ignition and diesel was filling the pop bottle with pressure so I assume no problems there. I then replaced the fuel filter under the car (passenger side), and still no start, but did notice that now the diesel fuel pump next to it is always priming every time you attempt to start the car, so replaced that and still no start but still constantly priming. A friend said it might be air in the fuel system with changing the filter etc, so he came over and removed the return pipe off one of the injectors while I turned the engine a few cranks, and diesel came spurting out under pressure, finally he sprayed some Easy start down the air inlet while I turned the engine and it started within about 4 cranks. So we let it warm up for about 30 minutes which it was running with no problems, however turned it off and attempted to start again, and back to square one, no start, started it again with easy start, let it run again for a while, then off, and again no start. Since then have tested the camshaft sensor with a voltmeter and appears to be working fine, that only leaves the crankshaft sensor which at the moment I can`t even locate never mind test, but got a funny feeling that is going to be fine as well. Just can`t understand why it wont start and the fuel pump is constantly priming. ANY Help would be much appreciated, Regards, Darrin. Read more
If it runs for half an hour , then it’s very unlikely to be the crank sensor . Fuel should not come out of the spill pipes under pressure, should be a steady dribble. You could have injector issues . Have you measured fuel pressure under real time data ?
Hi, my car was sideswiped by a bus (first bus) they have admitted liability act I have used accident management company to deal with it all but I have came across stumbling block the parts for my car are NLA due to the age and type of the car (Japanese import) the engineer valued my car between £21000 to £25000 and the cost of damage has come to £5000 my door is a total mess also the wing wheels front bumper ect My car is completely original with 80k on the clock they were saying something about cash in lieu payment where I would get the repair money and the car back, this option is no good for me as I will never be able to repair the car especially the door as they are only made for the type r What options do I have here any advice would be great.

Time to do some research into potential repair costs.
Plenty of owners club websites and I'd also call a few Subaru dealers as they are generally well informed. My local - KT Green of Leeds - run Impreza rally cars so it may be worth a call to them for some advice on sourcing parts and finding good repair specialists.
Hello,
Recently I bought a Seat Ibiza (2009) for my first car, in the first 10 days of driving, a fuel injector has gone. I’ve decided to completely return and refund the car which was bought from a family run garage. At first they said there is a 25p charge for every mile I have put on, and then it went up to 45p and now they’re trying 75p. In any case this wouldn’t be a big deal, however I have put 700 miles on (which they know). I was wondering if anyone knew about this and whether it’s a legal requirement and if I can dispute or avoid it in any way.
Many thanks for any help. Read more
I don't know if my experience will be of any use to you - it depends how you paid for the car. If you bought it on HP/PCP your rights are all against the finance company, not the dealer.
Last year I bought a Used Approved Suzuki and rejected it within 30 days. Suzuki Finance (LloydsBanking Group) not much use (they were fined £63m last year for poor customer service)....

I was wondering having seen the flash flooding in parts of the country would you even contemplate taking your EV even through a shallow flood? How well are the batteries protected from water ingress? Read more
My initial post was just about deciding whether to drive though even a low level flood in your EV.. When you see the way some drive through floods and the bow wave they create I think I would think twice about it. As regards floods whereby the interior is compromised as well most cars are a write off. I would not try any flood that was higher than the sills.
Shouldn't drive through with any car really unless it's really necessary/emergency.
Looks like a cross between the latest KIA Stonic (ok-ish) 208 (nice looking, externally) and the Golf (not, compared to the mk VII). And what is it with so many makes going the (tacky - few look good) 'two-tone' colour scheme? Read more
just a quick look on the internet found my answer.
He added: “We have an alternative to Ellesmere Port.”
It follows PSA’s announcement in June that the Astra would only be built at Ellesmere Port on the condition that the UK’s exit from the EU occurred on favourable terms. (which they haven't)
In the clearest message from a major manufacturer that a bad Brexit would affect manufacturing plans PSA said while it will build the MK8 Astra at two European factories, “The decision on the allocation to the Ellesmere Port plant will be conditional on the final terms of the UK’s exit from the European Union”.
So what i**** would allow a manufacturer to buy a factory then close it causing thousands and thousands of job losses there's only one i**** BORIS
We bought a boat to live on in the south of France for six months a year and realised we would have to take our Burmese cat. We purchased a cat box and before we got to Dover I had to let him out to stop the non stop crying. He settled on the rear parcel shelf or where ever he was comfortable and was never any problem. He travelled with us to France for five years and was as much at home on the boat as as the car. We got many amused comments from the French! but then he was a Burmese.
