I bought my car on finance 20 months ago so it is a couple of months less than 4 year old at the moment. It has a full service car plan with Nissan and has been well maintained. the mileage is approx 45,000.
On the Friday, it had been in my local garage to get brake pads fitted and two weeks earlier, it had passed its second MOT. On the Saturday, I was driving along the motorway not far from home and the engine just cut out and died. No warning lights or anything. The oil was checked and he said it was full as expected on the Friday. Have you considered asking them to replace the clutch while the gearbox's off, at your cost?

I just read of a case of a cam belt in oil disintegrating after an oil change with a flush.
It doesn't surprise me but it makes me wonder how common it is for flushes to be used during servicing without any regard for the consequences. ... Read more

I made up a sort of break out box using connectors of tightly rolled beer can aluminium between the relay and its connector block, so I could completely isolate solenoid control from its suspect wiring loom circuit.
I suspected this had an internal short to earth, producing an "always on" condition....

I encounter few problems with electronic handbrakes, in fact they seem more reliable than the old style mechanical ones.
Just seems to be this forum which has an issue with them, the rest of the world get on with them fine....
Removed quite a few scratches from my black car today using finishing compound and an orbital polisher. The results are mostly excellent except on one small patch that needed touch up paint. I finished it off with colour match polish, these orbital polishers give you a good chance with minor scratches. Read more
On the flip side madf, the pleasure of driving around in a clean shiny car, watching the water droplets run off. Seeing that car in middle age, looking like it's just come out of the showroom.

Engine cut out at 70mph on the motorway, following a sudden loss of majority of the engine oil, there had not been any oil leaks, even spots, prior to the final journey.

You can buy the chargers for about £350, or £400 for an RFID one. Then either get a part P qualified Electrician to install or DIY and get approval.
But if franchised dealers expect their stickers to give them a selling advantage, they should be prepared to back them up when needed. So it's fair for a buyer whose car has a fault to try to get it put right.
On reflection I am probably adding this to the wrong thread .... :-(
