Doesn't look exactly trivial, but not too hard, either. This video is of a Corsa, but I expect it's very similar. If not, there will no doubt be other videos of the job on YouTube.

Congratulations, FB. You have done very well.

I too am on periodic check-ups, having had successful surgery for rectal cancer in 2018. Fortunately it was caught early and no further treatment was necessary.

Further to my suspected front hub bearing problem, the disks had rusted up a bit during the winter vacation, so I cleaned them up using my locally disapproved-of beer can trick.

"The improvement from fettling the brake seems to indicate where the problem was - and perhaps still is a bit"

Removing the brakes completely and motoring the hubs in second gear on jackstands still showed a (consistent but smaller) temperature difference, so I think there is more here than just brake binding, though there was that as well. ...

Hello again.

I recently purchased a used approved vehicle, and whilst now everything seems great, there's one lingering issue which is frustrating me a little. ... Read more

Hi thanks as per my update I fixed the issue after trying fragrances/antibacs and Ozone. The fix was done using a chlorine type product Airvidox which another bloke mentioned too after my post. May be a sledgehammer to crack a nut for some smells but it is powerful stuff and the only thing that worked and has lasted the longest thus far.

The Suzuki rejection saga continues. After six weeks +, the finance co./bank have told me that they are to instruct a company to inspect the car. I understand that the company (Dekra) is quite well-known and well-regarded, and I await contact from them.

In the meantime, a local chap has had a look at the car for me. He is a 'mainly hobbyist' well-respected for his skills in paint correction, detailing, etc. After using a paint depth gauge, lighting, etc., he is confident that the car has not had accident damage repaired or paintwork done. I am reassured by this. His view was that the corrosion could be repaired if it was outside in and that a whole-roof respray would be needed.... Read more

Just as an update - and to keep things balanced - I have been contacted this morning by Dekra and the car is to be inspected on Wednesday.

I've got a 1994 m reg polo parade coupe that won't run. Engine code is AAU.

Here is what I know so far:

Vehicle started surging when driving - got worse over time.

Started losing power - accelerate when pulling away and lack of power, full throttle seemed to make it worst whereas slight throttle was better-ish. Revs would pick up and then it would accelerate as usual but with surging.

Vehicle cut out - not suddenly but wouldn't start again. Removed throttle body and cleaned it out. Replaced fuel filter, distributor cap and top vacuum pipe.

Seemed to work again for another couple of weeks but felt less powerful than usual, needed extra throttle when starting. Crappy idle when cold. Higher revs at idle after getting warm.

Lost power again not suddenly but as driving it got worse and now won't run for longer than a couple of seconds. Replaced ignition leads, spark plugs, distributor rotor arm. Removed throttle body again and cleaned out again. Still not working.

Checked compression and all readings are good/normal.

It won't start with all spark plugs in (at least won't start and run for any length of time more than a few seconds) but if you remove one (any one) and leave three in it will start and tick over.... Read more

Long story short: HEAD GASKET had gone. Took head off, got it cleaned up, skimmed and refitted with new head gasket kit (including valve stem seals) and new head bolts.

Seems to be working fine now. Will try to let you know more as I drive....

Final entry for my Find My Daughter a car threads over the past year

We have finally settled on and purchased a Honda Jazz '57 plate SE CVT DSi(ie: a late generation 1)
This was £3k with 63000 miles and a full history.
We whittled it down from a Fiesta and a Corsa to the Jazz as the cabin is more airy and the space is more flexible.
For various reasons we ended up at £3k (original budget was £5k) ... Read more
