What’s not mentioned is that co2 is measured from April using the latest testing regime which means large changes for some cars. Eg Skodiaq SEL 1.5 Dsg goes up by £645 in April. Read more

So how should car/road tax be determined?
I guess on how polluting they are and how much the ware out the road &/or cause congestion. There seems little if any correlation between the new tax system & the vehicle. Ot us now clearer than ever that this is just another way to get money from the general public. How much gets ploughed back into infrastructure & combating pollution is anyone's guess. Would I be wide of the mark if I suggest no more than 15%?

Another poorly coded, inadequately tested piece of software probably developed to a rushed deadline in a country that offers cheap software development (i.e. leading to good developers losing their jobs elsewhere in the world and a complete false economy in the long term).

Although I wonder if the fix is a bit like the Dieselgate fix - i.e. the cheapest option to move forward, but not necessarily in the best way or actually cure the issue at its root cause? Read more

What does the reduction in the government grant mean for anyone with a pending EV order? When does the reduction come into effect? Will purchasers be expected to cough up an extra £500?

I think I've found the answer - the grant is valid for 9 months according to https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/768517/plug-in-portal-dft-guidance.pdf...

If the funding package is also to be used for resurfacing works, let's hope it will be proper long term resurfacing, not the dreaded "surface dressing" which consists of a skim of tarmac and a spread of loose chippings which damage paintwork and get stuck in wheel arches. If you are really unlucky they can result in a broken windscreen. Read more

It's about time they scrapped this stupid fuel duty. It's not been increased since 2010 and they already rob you of 58p. per litre, then tax you on that (VAT) so basically we are paying tax on tax. Combine it into the original tax and lets get away from this big favour the Government does us every year, by not increasing it. . Read more

Having encouraged us to move to diesel to reduce C02 emissions the Government then branded it a killer, so we flew back to petrol because EV's and hybrids are currently unaffordable for the majority and lack adequate supporting infrastructure. Isn't that another major cause for rising CO2 emissions? Read more

Never heard of these Hydrogen units. Where do you get yours, how do you fill it? Who fitted it for you? Are they suitable for all turbo diesels?

So these clowns want us all to switch to EVs but make it even more expensive and seem to be doing very little to make it easier to charge them. It's petrol for me I'm afraid. Read more
