Doing a lot of futile fiddling with the car at the moment, and I thought a remote starter switch would streamline my inefficiency.

When I lived in London, Hackney Marshes had a similar fly-tipping problem, though usually builders waste (which also happens here) rather than arcade machines.
I did once find a safe with its back blown out there. Didn't actually have a use for a safe with its back blown out, but I thought it was quite interesting in a Bob Hoskins, Lock Stock and Two Broken Barrels Lahndhan way.

Hello, I bought a 05 MY VW Passat 2.0 TDI yesterday. On my way back home after refuelling at a motor way service, Emissions Garage Warning light came up on the cluster. The car was fine until till I joined the motorway from the service exit. Is this anything to do with the Shell diesel I put in the tank - though I filled in only for around £10. Please advise on how I can get this rectified. Appreciate teh help and thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response! Got this checked via a diagnostic tool from a friend and EGR valve blocked was the code seen. He advised me to get the valve replaced. The engine does not shudder when turned off but it shudders a bit for about 2-3 seconds when started and is fine after that. Thanks in advance.
Initially bought for the higher seating position, which is excellent, and seats are fine, but armrest near on useless, so leave them out of the way.
Bags of seating room in the back and adjustable rear seats too! 2 + 3 adults or 2 + 3 kids great and a good size boot.... Read more
Well, Avant... small (in my wife's estimation - and, to an extent, it's her domain) means no bigger than the i10. That narrows it down considerably! But I'm assuming I can allow some flexibility in that regard. The Yaris is probably just about permissible but the Jazz is longer still and a good bit dearer too (although I have complete trust in the brand and in my local Honda dealer). The extension of warranty on a Fabia is £305 for 2 yrs.
Budget is flexible but would like a degree of common sense to prevail and not throw more than necessary down the drain (which is what we do when we keep buying new cars, is it not?)....
There's no sound coming from the driver's side door speaker. I've check the balance control, removed the three large screws at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, but I'm stuck with what to do next. I'm assuming there is an additional screw underneath the twin buttons for the electric windows, but I don't know how to get at it. There is a small hole at the rear of this assembly, and maybe it's for sticking a small screrw driver in and prising the switches out? If I pop the two switch buttons off, there is a small slot lower down that might also be used to pry the switches out, but it's going to be very tricky.
Has anyone done this before? I'm assuming the speaker isn't working because a connection close by has failed, but wanted to test it with a multimeter to measure the resistance just to make sure the speaker hadn't blown.. Read more
There is a screw behind the switch pack that holds the door card. The switch unit is removed with the grab handle which is clipped at the top. However ,it is more likely to be a broken wire in the door shut causing the speaker failure.Pull back the rubber boot on the door wiring to check.
With the demise of factory fitted sunroofs options on so many new cars, it seems the only way forwards is to purchase an aftermarket product.
Has anyone any thoughts / comments about having a Webasto sunroof fitted, using an accredited dealer of course? I know it's not the cheapest of options, but it's almost the only way 'to let the sun shine in'.... Read more
The only things that have rusted on my 10yr old A8 are the rubbishy metal springy things on its Webasto sunroof. Impossible to find replacements...so far (any suggestions gratefully received).
Does anyone know where I could find the under-carriage plastic splash shield/engine protector for a 2005 Corolla?
I drove over something at speed which became trapped and ripped it down. I think some of the fixings are broken, so I've had to keep it in place - roughly - with Gorilla tape.... Read more
Recently after hitting standing water at speed, I had part of my car's undertray flapping about. I assumed that I would have to replace it but when I had an opportunity to actually get under the car I realised that although it was ripped, there were sufficient overlaps with other bits of undertray to form new holes with a Stanley knife and use a couple of cable ties to make good.
I'm really hoping someone can help with a pickle my partner and I are in. Last year she bought a van, (another van), shortly after she became very ill, essentially bed bound, and drugged up. The long and short of it is, no documents came back from the van, which was bought at auction, and now clearly the tax is well out of date, by about 9 months. We're just wondering which is the best way to get the documents and tax paid so we can get the van back on the road.
