In April 2015 i part exchanged my car into a nissan dealership. that very day i signed all the relevant paperwork and took my new car home. When i got home i photocopied the V5 slip i was given to send off to DVLA to notify them of the sale of the car. i also photocopied the 1st class stamped envelope i was using. That very same day i posted the envelop at the post box near my house. i didnt go to an actual post office so i dont have proof of actually posting it and to be honest i never really needed it before... I am the owner of a 4 month old Honda Jazz and am experiencing a sound from the rear of my car when braking. The sound is a clack or clack clack and mostly occurs when first braking after application of the handbrake but also occurs at several points on a journey. My dealer says he has heard of it from a standing start but offers no further information. A second dealer says its a common characteristic of a Jazz , its just the brake arms engaging and nothing to worry about or it might be the ABS resetting, again not to worry. Your comments would be appreciated. Read more
Yes I realise that is the case-but I thought I would chip in with my twopenn'orth as it's not the first time I've found this problem, this was my third Honda and they have all suffered with it sooner or later.
Well, after all the stress and working myself up we have ended up going for a new car. An Astra 1.4 Turbo estate...........
It's very nice, feels quality only 8KM! It's sitting in the showroom and we are going to start the paperwork this afternoon. I think despite the faults that crop up on the internet it's the best overall package we can find. We weren't going to go for the top spec (Opel won't let them order the 1.4 turbos any more apparently) but I think it may be easier to live with. We intend to keep it quite some time. Just so comfortable..... I have owned A BMW, Golf and Focus in the UK and so far the Astra competes well I think.... Read more
I have read that advice plenty of times around and about so sure it will keep the engine nice! If I was by myself I'd just go with an older car but with one small child and another on the way it does change you perspectives a little. Need something that can withstand impats and give a chance of walking away. We have looked around a lot and lots of the 3-4 year old cars are either really high mileage, diesels or have questions over the service history. It's much easier to buy a car in the UK...... Well, next February will get it up on the Autobahn so will see how it goes!
(20 year old Mondeos for example can still be had for over £1100!)
Hello there. This is my first post so please go easy!
Whilst on mat leave I have changed my car from a 2014 1.5 dci Nissan qashqai to a new 1.6 ntec dci Xtrail.
The problem I have is that I have four lovely 16 inch rims with winter tyres from my Qashqai I am guessing wont work with my xtrail. It takes either a 17 or 19 inch tyre as the norm.
You can't put 16inch tyres on a new xtrail right?
Just need someone to confirm I'm not being stupid and just suck it up, sell on the old winter tyres and buy new 17 or 19 inch ones. Pirelli Scorpion Winter tyres look a good bet?

All you need to do is check with the insurance, tell them you intend to fit winter wheels.
Had the misfortune to go to Leeds today on the M1 ,there were 3 sections of very subsatantial roadworks between about Bolsover and Leeds . What a complete pain. There doesnt seem to have been muchprogress made since I last went to that neck of the woods back in august . I saw a few signs saying they were working on making it a smart motorway whats this all about?
I feel sorry for anyone having to use this section on a regular basis,... Read more
The M3 is Surrey is just as bad - creation of a 'smart' motorway all the way from junction 2 to 4, for the rest of 2015 and most of 2016.
'Smart' isn't the word that immediately comes to mind....
A question about tyres?
The tyres on the front have worn on the outside edges very badly but not on the rest of the width of the tyre. ive had the tracking checkd and all is ok with that. ive done some reaserch on the web and people are saying to fit xl tyres. when doing a serch on line most XL tyres seem to be for 4x4s would 4x4 tyres be on a people carrier? Got new tyres fitted this morning, pirille scorpion xl rated. Went to a local tyre place they wasn't as cheap as online but not much more expensive. So far so good they seem better in the wet than the Bridgstone duler hp tyres that were fitted they don't seem as skittish or tramline like the Bridgstone tyres did.

It's easy to think of a faulty battery as just exactly that, but you must remember that your car has several electronic control modules. They do not understand the term 'faulty' as you do. The control modules are computers that cannot think or apply common sense. If a battery is faulty there will be something faulty about it, and that could be one of many things. To us they're all the same thing. The battery's faulty and that's that, but to a computer it's a totally different matter. Different faults will cause different problems. Have your battery properly and comprehensively checked, or renew it anyway.
It is a bit of a story, so bear with me.
I have an old friend, old in the sense that he is 73 soon and old friend in the sense that he has been a Good, and kind friend for many years, and generally asks for advice on medical matters from young rovergirl, although she is an Obstetrician/gynaecologist and not a GP.... Read more
Although we are no longer speaking.. I have learned via friends that the licence was reinstated, but he has admitted that a friend (who was not insured to drive the car drove it so they could go away one weekend..
I have done my bit, but as far as I am concerned he lied to the Doctor he was sent to, and it was only a verbal examination without any driving assessment.

Nice link from Brit in Germany. In essence sheebs you are home and dry. Read the link and then print it off and cite it as your defence. Slam Dunk! to you.
For mischief you could also say you were considering citing the defence of:...
