If I stop while on a journey (say to pop to a cash point) for a short period of less than 5 minutes the car will start but not rev to enable the car to be driven. If left for a longer period 7 or 8 minutes it works as normal. also happens when cold, if I move the car off the drive, go back inside to do something and the car will not rev unless left longer between restarting. Can anyone throw any light on what the problem may be?

If its a 1.5 diesel 3cylinder which I assume it is by date. You will need to clean the throttle housing and the Egr valve out with carb cleaner

And where can i buy green chemicals with less price ? Read more

>>I would think using them in say a pressure washer will not cause any problems.<<

You can run most general cleaners through them without issue, even a cheap Karcher. It doesnt seem to affect their life expectancy at all.
In an effort to conserve water however, it is more efficient to use a spray bottle and apply it by hand, if you want to be properly 'green'.

Don?t End Up Fired and Broke this Christmas ? Drive Drink Free

The Leicestershire Road Safety Partnership 2009 Anti Drink Drive Campaign has been launched today at Police headquarters, Enderby. Nationally, those aged 18 to 25 test positive for drinking and driving more often than any other age group. This was echoed locally when in December 2008, 42 of the 129 of those who tested positive were aged 18 to 25.

This year?s Christmas 2009 Anti Drink Drive campaign named ?Fired and Broke? aims to get in touch with a hard core of drivers, particularly in those under 25s, who are difficult to reach. The campaign focuses consequences of drink driving disqualification, such unemployment financial drain due to fines up to £5,000 and enormous insurance costs for years after time serving a driving conviction, all of which can be extremely tough for those in the 18 to 25 age group who, are starting out in life.

This Christmas, Myles, an 18-year-old man from Leicester who is serving a nine month drink drive disqualification, tells his story in the 2009 Christmas anti-drink radio campaign. He?s hoping his message that ?drink driving is a roadblock to your future?, will influence 18 to 25s.

Myles from Leicester said: ?The driving ban will stick with me forever, you don?t realise how being disqualified affects your chances in life you feel like it?s holding you back. I?ve just finished a public services course and wanted to be a police officer. But now I?ve got a criminal record, I think that?s ruined my chances of getting into the police force.

?Drinking and driving is not just dangerous, it?s stupid; getting disqualified messes up your life. It?s just not worth it.?

Drink and drug driving is still a major factor in the loss of over 2,500 lives a year on our roads and 30,000 being seriously injured each year.

Chief Inspector Mark Newcombe of Leicestershire Constabulary Roads Policing Unit said: ?We should never forget that drinking and driving kills. Sadly, the offence is all too often, fatal.

?Drink and drug driving operations are taking place 24 hours-a-day over the month of December where officers will be breathalysing motorists and conducting roadside stops to remove drink drivers from the roads of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.?

James Gibson of the Leicestershire Road Safety Partnership said: ?Above all, put your safety and the safety of others first by taking some common sense steps: If you?re going to a work party or drinking at the pub with friends and family, leave your car at home, get a taxi or take the bus to remove the option of drinking and driving completely this Christmas.?

The Leicestershire Road Safety Partnership is requesting that communities are vigilant this Christmas, appealing for the public to call the police if they see someone who appears to have been drinking, attempt to drive a vehicle. They should call 0116 222 2222 or make a free and anonymous call to CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111*

I have just been left a message by my dealer saying that I must take delivery of my car within 10 days since he has already registered it, otherwise I will not be able to buy it under the scrappage scheme.

Can he register the car before I have purchased it? I did an inspection of the car (including test drive) at the weekend and it failed so it has been left at the dealer for fixes. I signed nothing whilst I was there.

I can't find anything info on the scrappage scheme about a 10 day period after registration, does anybody know about this?

It's immensely inconvenient for me to return this weekend and just feel that he is spinning me a line trying to close the sale as early as possible.

I haven't bought a new car before so I would really appreciate and advice from buyers who have gone through the same experience or know the system better than I do.

Many thanks Read more

One or two minor blemishes might be overlooked, but 15 scratches, plus damaged door handle? A cheek expecting something that might have been vandalised, or taken through a hedge, be accepted as "new". Have they a cogent explanation? I refused delivery of a new Jazz for SWMBO when I saw a lump of paint missing from the bumper on walkaround. They fixed it by fitting a new one in the correct finish. No deal until they did. Amazing what dealers can do when they have to......

Hello. I've been looking into the software to remap my 2001 Passat tdi130.

Will a KWP2000 ECU flasher be suitable? And where is the best place to get the reprogrammed ECU maps?

Any help on this matter would be appreciated as I'm new to it.

Reported today in the Daily Wail....
A doctor in the Westminster Council area has been repeatedly fined for parking his Scooter on a piece of land, outside the windows of his surgery, which is his property.
The matter has been taken all the way up to the Appeal Court and they have upheld the decision of the lower courts and parking tribunals that the land is deemed to be part of the highway because it is not fenced off and the public have access to it !

This seems unfair and draconian to me...it's his land..he even has a sign saying so on the wall of the surgery. One of the reasons he bought the place was because of the parking, as he needs the scooter close by for emergency call-outs.

So, where do we go from here ? My own drive is accessible to any member of the public...they just have to step over a line where my land meets the road. I can get a car down about 50 yds before the garage doors.. fortunately there is no parking restriction here, but if there were double yellows, would a warden have the power to walk down my drive and ticket me...likewise, report me for no tax...sorned, but deemed to be on the road !

I like to think that our city has a better attitude to bikes than this. I parked the Condor on double yellows in Cheadle a few years ago with my blue badge on. Arriving back, there was a young lady warden looking at it. I asked if all was ok......' Fine,' she said ' I've just never seen a blue badge on a bike before '. We had a nice chat, during which I learned that Manchester would only ticket a bike if it was blocking a loading bay in the day or parked dangerously......fair enough.

Another incredible decision made by our courts....I despair ! (again )

If it's part of the highway he has no right to obstruct it, either by illegal parking or with a fence. >>

My reading of the circumstances around this particular case is:
The privately owned part adjoining the publicly owned pavement has only been deemed to be a public highway because the owner has failed to "fence" it off. It has been put to him that he needs to "fence" it off to make it clear that it is not part of the highway. Until he does so, it will remain deemed as a public highway. Examples of acceptable "fences" are visible on other properties along the road.

if the cabin heater running? you have a diesel cabin heater that runs to worm up the coolant as the CRD takes a long time to worm up on it's own.
NOTE: the cabin heater may not run if you are low on fuel.

Hi

I want to buy a compressor, but my shed is some 30 metres away from my house. The purpose of the compressor is to use it for spray painting jobs, servicing my vehicle etc. What would I need to buy to safely connect it within the shed, ie fuse boxes etc. Also where can I buy these items at a reasonable price and how could I wire it into the house?

I have thought of screw fix, but does anyone else have other suggestions whetre I can purchase these items around the Brighton and Hove/ East Sussex area to do a nice long term job. Also are there are any precautions I might be advised to take before I attempt this.

Thanks
