Can you please advise or help me please, I have a Ford Focus C-Max 1.6 & it's a 54 plate.
My car started juddering and had lack of power and was like a knocking sound, so my Dad took the car to a garage and he was told the HT Leads so we changed them. The noise hadn't gone completely but was quieter!.Because the noise still remained we took it back to the garage and we changed the Spark Plugs and also changed the Coil Pack. The car worked fine for aprox 3-4 week. Then I was going round a traffic island and the car was struggling and lost power but I still managed to make it round. I then pulled-over and tried to re-start the engine but during this time the engine management light was flashing. I finally made it home. The next day I tried the car and the Battery light had come and engine mangement light was flashing on. The engine wouldn't start but was ticking. All the CD player etc work but I have no idea what's wrong with it can you please help me I don't just want to keep changing parts for the sake of it and hoping it will cure the problem. Just fed up with paying for problems all the time.
Thank you

On my way to work i spotted a Ferrari F430 spyder painted in matt pink with sign writing in white down the side.
What is the worst colour car you have seen?
I will try to get a photograph tomorrow to prove it. Read more
I would like to substitute my space saver spare wheel with a full size steel wheel and a non-directional tyre( £60 for the wheel)(the road wheels are alloy with directional tyres). VW say NO I must only use an alloy(£350). Are they correct? Don't VW fit steel wheels to any of their cars?
The wheel diameter will fit the well but will be above boot floor which doesn't bother me.

My experience is that only Audi in the VAG group provide full size alloy spares as standard, our Golf IV had 16" alloys and a 16" Steel Spare with full size tyre so I guess it had the same offset / 'J' rating.
Not sure why VW won't sell you something similar today, Ford certainly will for £30 on the price of a new car.
Now having one car with run flats and the other which came with a can of gunk but we 'upgraded' to a spacesaver (Honda charged £100 btw) I'd ask why a spacesaver isn't sufficient, I drive about 30K miles a year and I think I had my last puncture in 1998....
Hi,
I have just bought a 1995 Citroen AX, 5 door, I have two problems:
1. How do I replace the manual door pull release buttons from the Inside of the door,
Do they unscrew or pull off, as I have one broken on one of my back doors ?
2. How do you replace the bulbs in the Speedometer display, as half of my display has gone out ?
Will appreciate any help and suggestions.
Cheers

This time round I want to check and test the motor before I have extras fitted and pay my cash. So, can I legally test it BEFORE its registered? Can the dealer put trade plates on it?
Also, I have the option of having the car delivered, do you pay the final amount on delivery over the phone?
Thanks all.

..... A VW Golf with ESP light issue.
Just noticed a thread over in technical running on this issue. Although there has been about 60 replies, the thread has been viewed close on 12000 times!
I assume thats a helluva lot of VW owners googling to try and find info on their problem cars? Read more
I have just got home having spent quite some time in a queue behind an 09 plate Prius. The brake lights, though small........really back a luminous punch! They are eyeball height to those in cars behind them. If the driver keeps his foot on the brake pedal when stationary, it can be quite wearing, then irritating then eyebaall juice boiling. I am watching Ray Mears on TV through an impression of Prius brake lights burnt into my retinas. Read more
just hope he ends up with warped brake discs as a result.
Urban myth.
My BiL owns a C2 and even though he has only done just under 25K his clutch needs replacing. The Citreon dealership he bought it from has quoted £700. Does any BR have suggestions for a good independant Citreon specialist garage in the NW,W,SW of London.
Thanks on his behalf.

Cheers for the replies guys, I've passed them on for him to digest. And yes, it was £700 quoted at a Citreon dealership in Brentford. Apparently the engine needs removing, so majority of the bill will be labour.

This 2.2DCI SpTr Auto has done 73K mls and will be 6 years old soon. It is used for long journeys, runs as it should - probably because of this and it is well looked after by me with 5w/40 synthetic oil changes at 1/2 the specified "intervals".
I would be grateful for advice from a diesel engine expert on when it is necessary to inspect/renew the glow plugs, as this is not specifically mentioned in the service schedules.
My reasons for considering this action are:
1) If I do not remove the glow plugs soon they may become stuck in the cylinder head with the associated problems.
2) They will not last forever and I would rather deal with any replacement before a failure occurs than contend with an unexpected starting problem at the wrong time.
I think that 6-7 years is about the length of service I can reasonably expect from them.
Would inspection reveal whether is is time to renew any?
I welcome advice on this query.

I did the job on a 1.9 dCi Renault of the same year, and found it remarkably straightforward, helped by Renault using push on electrical connections (rather like a spark plug HT lead) instead of those fiddly 8mm nuts.
On the 1.9, it would throw a "CHECK INJECTION" error on the computer (and put the MIL on) if any of the glowplugs were unserviceable.
I replaced the Berus in mine with Bosch items, and had no further trouble in that department.

LOL. Yep. Got our commercial director to negotiate a deal on a 5 Series that I could actually see myself driving driving for the next 3 years without having to resort heavy Groucho Marx style disguise. The one I have is definitely easier on the eye. Well, apart from the light coloured wood trim that I chose in a moment of madness to brighten up the usual BMW coal hole interior.
Quite apart from the dodgy M-Tech bodykit of the car I described, I don't see the attraction of an expensive new car with matt bodywork. That's how my cars normally look before I take them to the car wash, which admittedly doesn't happen very often. I like them to come out afterwards looking shiny and new for that before/ after effect, otherwise I probably wouldn't bother.
