Good prog tonite only dull bit was the advertising item that bored me very quickly.
I so want a Bathurst now, my goodness what a noise, last time I heard anything like that it was at Duxford Airshow ( roll on 5th Sept! ).
Last bit was actually the voice of the true enthusiast, someone saying what many fear is on the way at a rapid pace. Beautiful scenery, one of the best looking cars ever made and some genuine words finishing with the sound that makes any car guy just sit and listen.
Roll on next series.

Just been watching a recording, and call me old fashioned but I thought the best bit by far was the thrashing of the R8 and ZR1 around the track.
BTW according to ASKMID 'Geoff' is insured as a 'TVR Chimera Electr'...
Hi
Pug 306 td 1996 3 door sports Lucas pump
I was doing about 50 mph up hill, when the car suddenly lost power and now does not start. The nice man from the RAC (Mick) was really good and thinks its either the solenoid or the rota arm in the fuel pump. The fuel is getting to the pump but does not come out top the injectors.
1. Can the solenoid be replaced easy?
2. Can the pump be replaced easy?
3. Can it be something else?
4. Can the solenoid be by passed to see if it is faulty? (3 wire type to solenoid . lucas pump)
Any help would be good, even where I can get a replacement cheap would be a help.
Need the car for work. It takes me 2½ hours to get there by 3 buses and takes 3 busses 2½ to get back again.
Thanx
Peter

If its a straightforward pump without a keypad, yes its a simple job to replace the solonoid. If it has a keypad it will be necessary to remove the pump to dispose of the armour plating around the solonoid.
hi i have a oil smell in car it comes and goes smells like gearbox oil bit of a pain really has anyone got any thought on what to look for or to check? Read more
Check underneath the car to see where the oil is leaking from. It sounds like it's dribbling down from somewhere onto the hot exhaust, hence the smell inside the car.

I am flying from Birmingham international at 1.30 PM
Ryanair suggest we should arrive 2 hours before.
Google maps says it should take around 2 hours door to door via the M6.
I was thinking of leaving at around 8AM, allowing 3 hours to get there and 30 mins to park and get to the terminal.
Is this realistic/safe?
Thanks
Ian

Thanks for the feedback.
I bet if you'd left at 8AM as originally intended then the busier traffic would have made the journey much more stressful.
Guys,
Recently laid off as an Account Manager and currently looking for similar work but it is really slow out there.
I have a Class I HGV licence but I probably haven?t driven for about 4 to 5 years (was driving constantly for about 4 to 5 years before that though). What is the temp/agency market like out there? I?m considering registering with a couple of driving agencies just to see me through. Ideally I would not want Class I work; I?d rather stick to a rigid. I hear that driving work has also really slowed down recently with many drivers out of work.
Bearing in mind my length of time out of the driving seat (I know I?d need to get a digital tacho card), any ideas if there is much work out there at all?
If it makes any difference I am in the Gloucester/Bristol/Swindon triangle.
I intend on calling a few agencies tomorrow but would like your thoughts as well.
Thanks Read more
Thanks for your comments guys. I'll make a few enquires and if positive, apply for my digi tacho.
Hi i have a passat 1.6, its done 124K, the other day i was driving down the motorway at about 70mph and i had a sudden loss of power, only seemed to drive in 3rd gear, came off next junction and noticed loads of smoke coming from the o/s rear wheel, so pulled over into layby, i could hardly the drive the car as the seemed like the brakes were totally seized on.
I waited 5 hours, the car has cooled down, then it drove o.k at low speeds back home.
So i had abit of investigation today to see what was wrong, i took the O/S rear wheel off and caliper and pads etc. I noticed the pads were pretty good pads, but were worn down on the edges (and smelt!) the discs seem o.k, tried the handbrake and that pushed the caliper out and so did the brakes, i know you need a special tool to get the piston back in, but it does seem like the caliper is o.k, (no leaks) power steering fluid is the right level.
my question is, what could have caused this binding on, if it is not the piston? any help would be appreciated? Read more
Hi thanks for your reply, yes i took the caliper completely off the car, and bought a piston rewind tool, the piston seems absolutely fine and goes in and out quite happily. However in answer to your question about it being only one wheel, to be honest i think it could have been all 4 wheels that were binding on, all seemed unusually hot, but it was only the o/s rear that was smoking??
At the weekend ill try the other side (rear n/s) caliper, and also bleed entire system and see what happens, did have a look at master cylinder, but it looks brand new? also i did notice a hole in the trim underneath the windscreen whereby water could be leaking into the battery and along that area where the master cylinder is and vrake servo, you dont think that might have something to do with it??
thanks in advance for your help
hi, i have recently bought the above car at auction but now very little about cars whilst driving today a warning light appeared its the light below the oil light dont even know what it means can you please help and is this urgent thaks also found that there was very lttle oil the car has done 176600 miles please help thanks Read more
its rectangle with a dip in the top, thought it might be water but checked water seems alright.
Just got back from an excellent morning at the Goodwood circuit in West Sussex. We took the MX-5 down to the Goodwood Breakfast Club's 'Top Down Sunday'.
The whole of the paddock and large sections of the circuit were full of very desirable convertibles. More Ferraris than you could shake a stick at, Astons, Caterhams, Jags, Triumphs, MGs, you name it and it was there. Including MX-5s of course.
Aircraft too, the odd Tiger Moth to add colour.
Thoroughly enjoyable, no entry fee, no one trying to sell you anything; just stroll about in the sunshine, admire the cars and chat with the owners. The breakfast was good value too.
Worth a visit if you are near enough, even if your car doesn't fit the theme. Despite being called a club the fact is that anyone can just turn up.
The next event is on 30th August: Thoroughbred Sunday ? for the Quintessential Classic Car and Motorcycle?. Any pre-1966 road vehicle or aircraft in the spirit of Goodwood circuit?s golden days.

Amazingly I met the owner of an identical XJS convertible to mine.
>>
I went to the Goodwood Breakfast this morning in a friends XJS V12 convertible and amazingly another friend, who until recently lived 300yds away from my home, parked his E type next to us. (He now lives fairly close to Goodwood.)
My experience was a little different.
We did not arrive until about 8:30 ( web site says 08:00 start ) but by 11:00 quite a few cars were departing from the display area.
A good selection of cars on display and in the car parks with a suprising number of bikes there.
The most unusual /odd vehicle I saw was an older RR modified into a two seat pick up truck.
It was a very expensive bit of engineering. The paint and finish was first class. The truck end was made out of hard wood as was the floor. The wood finish was up to RR standards and all the metal fittings looked to be made specifically for the job.
It looked totally new. It might just be planned as an advertising tool but there was no sign writing or labels to hit at this.
On the other had it might just be a rich gentleman indulging in a whim?
A good trip. Quiet roads en route but lots of traffic queues going the otherway at Guildford.
We went down the A3 and used my favourite, less obvious route, staying on the A3 avoiding Milford and then taking a left to Brook.
The same in the reverse but you need to go south when you meet the A3 in order to go over a bridge to u turn north.

Thanks Peter,
i would do just that, but do they(X main power relay) usually cause the problem i complained about?pls how do i know its working properly. and how can i identify it,where is it located? Regards dru-x
