Can you guys tell me what I need to do regarding transfer and costs and getting another number for the car if I get a buyer for my Plate.

I plan to put it on E-bay.
I would let the car go with it too and wouldn't expect to get much for it either (the car that is) Merc E320 straight 6 petrol. 'N' reg 70k w210 not brilliant though, but back to the plate scenario if you would be so kind.

Very best regards.........Martin Read more

My car has just had new front brake pads and discs (73000 miles) fitted, when driving it home it started making a sort of rubbing noise, when accelerating slowly. On the passenger side, sort of in time with the turning of the wheel. Does anyone know what this might be?

Thanks

We bought our 54 plate 1.8 zetec 12 months ago and it was only recently we took a long motorway drive in the heat with our 2 small children and when we turned the A/C on we was only getting warm air. When we arrived at our destination,we called into a place that said they will charge us an arm and a leg to have a look and run tests which we declined because of the cost. Since then i have done some research and a couple of people on here suggested changing the shims in the A/C motor. I went out and bought the shims and began to follow the advice people had given which was to take off drivers wheel, remove lower plastic splash guard and the pulley in front of you will have a disc on the front which you can turn by hand freely so you need to wedge a screwdriver into it so as you can undo the nut and remove the disc to get to the shims. Well thats where my problem starts because when i removed the plastic splash guaurd neither of the 2 pulleys that faced me was the one people mentioned, instead the pulley with the freely spinning disc was right over to the right hand side and virtually impossible to get at to stop the disc from turning without trying to undo the nut aswell.
Have i got the right pulley as i'm sure i have and if so how do you wedge something in it without buckling it to undo the nut?? Read more

Drive it down to Quick-Fit and get them to re-gas it. They did my Son's
Mazda and now when he switches the A/C on the penguins living under the seats
come to life!!!
They do a good job for the price.

... and I think they guarantee no success then no payment. They of course test first to see if system can be re-gassed.

Off to Switzerland for a week or so soon, courtesy of my father, for whom I shall be carrying-out various odd jobs - ladder work, tiling, hold-the-end-of-this-while-I-cut-it etc...
He is paying my expenses, but can't understand why I want to take the bike instead of flying -about the same price.
I have tried to explain - Can you imagine how it feels to get off a cross-channel ferry at 6am
with 500 miles of glorious, open road in front of you?
It must be a bike thing..........

Having kept my fuel receipts I have as a matter of interest calculated my mpg. 55 overall - that is with making-progress-without-being-too-silly, but usually rapid acceleration away from lights and roundabouts to get past caravans and HGVs. 90% of trip non-motorway - so I am impressed. Yes, I know you can get that out of a diesel car, but I would still be stuck behind that camper-van in Dijon now, and somehow, I can't imagine it being as much fun - smiles....

Roamed around a few accessory places this AM.

With nothing else much to do, looked at batteries. Startling really - all `filled` and sitting there deteriorating. Some shops have great piles of them with what looks like years of dust and even in the biggest place in town -- a 2008 code on a premium battery.

Now that last one looked years younger than some of the other dirty stained jobs waiting to be bought as `new`

Maybe this is one reason batteries other than the original seem not to last as long these days (unless the original sat in a field drained flat for 6 months - then jump started and out with the car as new.)
Wonder if anyone anyone has ever replaced their battery only to have fitted an older one...It`s GOT to have happened somewhere, at sometime hasn`t it? Read more

i had a hi-fi installed by Halfords and i've now been through 3 batteries. What could the problem be?

its a well known issue on Puntos (fiatforum) with aftermarket radios.

Uk3doorsdown - this is a mk2 Punto thread - you might be better served if you start a new `polo` thread. (or if the MODS were to move it?) {Done}

A trick I tried a few years back when I bought a new VW Transporter for my mobile tuning game - I went to the local dealer, road tested the critter for a whole day, then asked for his very best price for pound notes (business was good!), then - I phoned around (pre ww) all the dealers I could find until I got the price *DOWN* and some.
... went back to local dealer - and he matched it.
Could (I wonder) Fiords price increases be 'a ploy' so'as to make 'attractive' price reductions later - Just a thought!

I've had a problem with my car for a good few months now.
It goes through oil like nobody's business. No noticeable leaks under car either.
I have now started to notice oil in my coolant system.
Having looked into this on other forums, it was suggested that i may have a breach in the head gasket. This as since been changed but the problem remains, and although the gasket was very old, there was no obvious breach.

The car is driving fine, not smoking or any other noticeable problems to myself, although is slightly more sluggish than when first bought - but sure that is due to age.

If any one has any other Idea's, please let me know!!!
(scrapping not an option at the mo either!!! :) )

Hi my daughter has a 2000 citroen saxo 1.1 petrol, the key jammed in the ignition and we had to get a new ignition barrel - it appears that it needs recoding - it started but then the key light was flashing and now it wont start - can you take the chip from the old key and put it in the new one - is there anyway of recoding it without taking it to a citroen dealer. Key coding is a main dealer only thing unfortunately, you will need the immobiliser code card that should be with the service book. If you don't have this fear not they have it on record, but will charge you to retrieve it (surprise surprise). Maybe try the parts guys at a quiet time

I have a 530D saloon with 90,000 on the clock. Just recently it has started to feel lumpy at tickover, but only on occasions. It runs fine under power, but when stopped and idling feels like it is running on 5 Cyls instead of 6 - can anyone help???

Unfortunatly none of the modern common rail diesels are as reliable or durable as the last generation of IDIs, which is why I run Citroen XMs. 300k miles from a 2.1td is not unusual and a new injector is about £35.00 - and, you can fit it yourself, but they don't go!
