Hi, any Kia Ceed owners out there ?
I have been and looked at a new 1.4 SR7 this morning, i was offered a good deal and think i am going to go for it.
One question i forgot to ask is what keys are supplied with it, do you get 2 remotes, or 1 remote plus one non remote, and if thats the case does opening it manually with the non remote key disable the alarm ?
Hope that makes sense ! Read more

Hi Andy

Yes the car has been as expected over the last 12 months (faultless) touch wood !!

Well built with plenty of power, good mpg and loads of toys as standard.

I read last year about this engine and was quite exited by the prospect of a little 900 cc twin with 100bhp: 70 plus mpg and sub 100g/km CO2 levels. Was this just a concept engine or will it see production. I like the FIAT 500 but am put off by the current range of engines: 1.2 too slow and long in the tooth (FIRE OHC engine is 26 years old), 1.3 Diesel (too heavy and again not that powerful) and 1.4 petrol a bit expensive, and diappointed me on a test drive:

A powerful little twin in this car sounds great though and I'd imagine it would be full of character like a 2CV or Honda Z600 but with a decent turn of speed.

Can anyone shed any more light? Read more

i know the focus saloon is not the best looking car but... ive just looked at one its a 1.8i ghia on a W plate with 65k with full history. its on the forecourt at £1800 is that a fair price ? also where is the trip computer as i think it should have one. Read more

Maybe I need my eyes testing as I love the look of my 1.8LC 02 Focus Saloon in metallic black. Bought from new and a factory order.

Hatch was too small for me and Estate is really a milk-carton on wheels. Though could do with a milk-carton now as the boot of the saloon is a little on the tight side with two sprogs of two and under.

Nothing much has gone wrong though radio suspiciously packed up and keycode didn't match what it should have been after a service just outside of warranty. Make of that what you will.

Nothings gone wrong - apart from an side-repeated bulb, internal light bulb, and replaced the front discs as they were getting a bit rusty + had a new battery installed as a precaution seeing as the original one was getting a little bit long in the tooth. Had 21k trouble free motoring.

And pleased to hear that the residual value is going up ...

The gearbox revs up between 2nd and 3rd then slams into gear. Does anybody know what the problem is or is anybody experiencing anything similar ?. Read more

Depending on mileage (< 60,000 miles) and if still under 3 yrs old, let the warranty take care of it.

As for fluid change, I believe for these auto boxes the fluid has to be drained and filled by some electronic gismo, rather than just draining and refilling with oil and a funnel.

Have a 2006 Corolla with 13500 miles under its belt. The Michelins on the front have worn down to 4mm on the outer edges - with the inner and mid being 5mm. Looking to change front tyres - though disappointed with wear on Michelins. Pressures are checked regularly - so they have not suffered with incorrect tyre pressures. Anyone any recommendations for replacements - mid range tyres please as will be trading car in for something new October. Read more

So-called 'sport' suspension set-ups are notorious for accelerating tyre wear on people carriers. The Mazda 5 people carrier is the best (worst?) known for this with rears lasting under 10k miles on the 'Sport' trim cars.

Nearly 20k from fronts on a Verso seems ok to be honest. 1mm of depth difference across the tyre width may or may not signifiy a suspension/steering issue - no harm getting a wheel alignment check, especially if the car hits a lot of speed bumps.

I collect a new "old" shape Jazz at the end of the month.
My current one is made in Japan.
Does anyone know how to identify where the new one is manufactured, as I suspect it is likely to be China?

Japan. Then Swindon, later this year. Maybe.

jezbed - I had the same problem on two Citroen BXs. Both the squeak and the tyre wear were fixed by replacing the rear trailing arm bearings.

I've noticed a lot lately if I ask when the belt was changed the trader will admit probably never and offer to replace it as part of the deal.

Fortunately no-one came to any harm in this insane episode, but the photo that accompanies this is just priceless.
