Third ad in as many weeks, each of them exactly the same in content , only difference being different phone numbers, advertising a BMW 6 series 630 on a reputed used car website(am I allowed to mention which one?)
Anyway this particular ad stands out because its the cheapest price on a used 630 at present in the UK.
Which was exactly the same in the previous 2 advertisements.
The phone numbers are never answered and as with the present ad go into an answerphone, however on each occasion emailed an interest in the car...
Anyway i get this email in reply from a Mr Anderson(with a btinternet email address)
Hello again,
I am glad to know that you are looking forward to close this deal. The BMW
is UK supplied, UK specs. As it's impossible to meet, I prefer to make the
transport through a company that has their warehouse close to where I live.
They offers also an exchange protection service.
You will make the payment into their trustee bank account. The payment is
kept there until you receive and accept the car. I signed for a 5-day
inspection period. I hope it's enough for you to check it with your mechanic
and to check the papers with DVLA or with your local dealer. I am confident
that you will love the car, but if, for any reason you will be not pleased
with it's condition you will be fully refunded and and my car will be taken
back by the transport company. Again, I am sure this will not be the case,
as the car is in perfect order.
Thank you,
Stuart
My questions
Doesnt this look like an obvious scam or am I mistaken.
He then sends me an email backed by the said used cars website verifying the cars details !
Any thoughts on this welcome.

Now what have we here? Reviving a 12 year old thread (appropriately about spamming) to post a link to a site registered at the end of July. Interesting to see that these scams go back so long.
hi, do you have to pay to get the points removed from ones paper part of the driving license once they have expired or does it depend on the offence, or can you still do the change of address ploy , ie tell them you have moved (give girlfriends address) then a week later change address again (to your original address) hey presto brand spanking new license ( oh by the way its a photo one) thanks mj Read more
Develop a notifiable illness like diabetes*.
Every three years I get a fresh licence. And, hey presto, points are gone!
And you get free prescriptions and eyesight tests.
* not recommended.

Hi all. Went to see a E38 1999 728 today. 90 000 miles and good money. Everything works, good history (BMW and independent) -- however, I walked. Didn;t test drive yet as car boxed in the forcourt. No nasty smoke and smooth idle expect for a light knock which got faster with engine speed. Dealer said it was because the oil needed to get round and hadn't been run for a while. I can accept that, however, would have thought the knocking should have stopped after 5 mins or so? The straight 6 BMWs I have seen in the past have not made this sound - am I right to walk and could it mean a top end rebuild?

Little end knock common on 728i's especially when cold will run for years with it
.
Not so sure about that - little end knocking tends to get worse as the engine warms up (the oil gets thinner).
Whatever the reason, it is difficult to diagnose without hearing, so I would get someone on the spot to check it out.
Someone I know has been lumped with a £75 fine for overstaying in the car park for his local swimming pool, because the disabled swimming class closed the pool for an hour at midday.

He was fuming about it on his blog (and rightly so!) and I was wondering out of idle curiosity if, being a private car park, you can tell them (the enforcement company) to get stuffed and ignore the penalty? Read more
I got sent one of these Civil Enforcement Notices from a private company monitoring another private companies forecourt and eatery at Gatwick Airport. I followed advice similar to yours: I stated I wasn't the driver and wouldn't be saying who was.
I never heard any more about it and this was probably around 9 months ago now.
If he has the courage to not pay (it can take a bit of courage when they start threatening to increase the fee, get debt collection agencies involved, etc) then he should be happy by the end of it all. They are only bothered with collecting money from those who they can intimidate in to paying, the "easy targets", they're generally not interested in chasing people who refuse to pay.
A lot of people don't want the hassle and just pay up. That's how they make their money.
HI all
Strange one this, driving along yeaterday at 40 in 5th and suddenly lost power. Pressing go go pedal and nothing just winding down to idle. When stopped pressing accel produced no mor ethe 500 revs even doen to floor. Checked cable and fine, ticked over fine and no unsusal noises. Limped on to side street at idle and sudenly picked up again. Did same thing 1 mile down road and picked up again soon after. Car has been driveing superb up to yesterday.
My first thing to think of was the cat as it has started rattling really bad lately and could have got blocked up intermittintly or some thing electrical (plugs leads?)
or the fuel (qtr tank) that was in tank was dodgy. I put 30 quid of fresh fuel in and it seems ok now after a 100 mile round trip today, however it still has a slight bit of hesitation espically under load, but iss still more than driveable.
Im no mechanic so any ideas to what that was would be great
Car has 142000 miles on clock

Well it seems that it is fixed now without sending off. My mechanic noted that when proceding to take off the bolts joimg cat to down pipe they were not tight enough.
It is what looks like two triangular 3 bolted faces and sandwiched in between them is small metal collar. He said the force of the gasses was making the collar jump about inside the faces and it wasnt a loose monolith causing the rattling noise. Anyway he tightened them up and off I went. All working!
Good result really as it saves on me having no car, bad news is telling boss that i have to come in to work now!
Thanks for all replies, much appreciated
Does the Kangoo have a delay relay for the rear wiper or is it permanently on? The owners handbook mentions a"timed sweep". Is there a missing or broken relay/timer on mine and if so where is it? While on the subject of Renault is the anywhere I can get a wiring diagram or schematic for this car with out having to part with a huge sum of cash? Thanks for any help.

From the BAA site.
Some interesting ideas. ANPR etc.
Opening in March 2008, Terminal 5 will offer travellers over 7,000 parking spaces within three new three car parks. Incorporating the latest in car park design and technology, the new facilities aim to take the guesswork out of parking at the airport and deliver new and elevated levels of product quality and service to help passengers arrive at the terminal relaxed and stress free.
The new car parks reflect the desire by passengers to be as close to the terminal as possible, with a brand new 3,800 space Short Stay car park located within walking distance of check-in. To complement this, there will be a Valet Parking service offering the ultimate convenience of car drop-off on the terminal forecourt and pick-up from just outside the arrivals area. Further choice will be provided by Business Parking and a Long Stay car park, both a short distance from the terminal and served by frequent courtesy coaches.
Technology will play a pivotal role in the new car parks at Terminal 5, most notably within the multi-storey Short Stay car park. This technology will provide innovative, intuitive and time-saving solutions to the traveller and for the first time will combine all the latest developments in a single location.
The many advances, designed to make parking as ?stress-free? as possible, include ?Bay Monitoring? together with a new Variable Messaging System (VMS). Bay Monitoring will enable drivers to reach an empty space in the optimum time and most energy efficient way. Each space will be fitted with a sensor-led system and a green light above the bay indicates where a space is available. VMS minimises queuing and congestion by delivering electronic messages in the form of arrows to direct customers around the car park. In addition, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) will be used to ensure a swift and efficient entry/exit to the car parks for those customers who have pre-booked.
On their return to the Short Stay car park, an additional feature has been designed to assist customers in locating their vehicles. ?Car Finder? will track cars to a specific zone using number plate recognition and closed circuit television (CCTV) within the car park. Customers will be able to use their ticket, or enter their registration number, at a specially designed Car Finder kiosk, which will identify the location of their parked car.
Hugh Fenn, Travel Services Director, says ?The new developments at Terminal 5 are a sign of the changing needs of 21st Century traveller. We hope that through increased numbers of spaces and the use of revolutionary technological advances, our airports can cater for every type of traveller providing the most simple and stress-free experience as possible.?
As part of the T5 construction programme, bus, coach, train and underground links have been improved and a new road junction will connect T5 directly with the M25. All intended to make the journey to T5 from central London as smooth and as efficient as possible.

After visiting Heathrow and Stanstead during a recent trip to the Uk and having previously been to Gatwick I have vowed never to fly into London again. If I have to visit the UK I will change somewhere en route which will allow me to arrive in Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh or anywhere but London. When you look at airports like Zurich, Bangkok and Singapore there really isn't any excuse for the state of London airports. I shall vote with my feet and take my dollars elsewhere.
If the steering wheel can have a left or right set on the same bit of road then you have a problem. Keep an eye on the tyre wear. A full geometry check may be needed- I believe the Passat has a very complicated suspension geometry.
