Having purchased an Audi A6 Avant 1.9 TDI SE in the summer months and being very impressed with the car, I really do think I ought to sort out the 'missing remote key' dilemma!
Looking through the Audi manual that came with the car, the car originally came with two remote keys, one plastic and an ID strip on a key ring. The problem is I have one remote key (three button) and a plastic key. I think it would be a good idea to get a another remote key just in case the existing one packs up, gets broken (unlikely but who knows....) or gets lost.
Audi dealers want between £110-£150..........and I'm not sure where else to go, if indeed anybody else make them! Any ideas please?? e bay maybe............? Read more
The hose with the connection spigot is broken off - do I need a complete unit or is the top section includind the 3 bolt flange available seperately?
Can I ask 'What is the sort of cost of this unit ?'

Hi there
Polo 1.9 DL 1998 Reg TIL2230
Dont know if its a PD , Its not a Turbo
This pump is fitted on the front right corner under the rad hose
The engine is a replacement as the original blew up (NO ITS NOT MY CAR)
The fitter that started the job and fitted the engine to its current stage has been
sacked. The pump was taken off the busted engine so guess it got broken during the change over

The engine fault light sometimes comes on when starting the engine. It then stays on. Sometimes it does not come on/stay on. Sometimes re-starting makes it go off!
I'm going to have a look at the thing as soon as I can, but in the meantime, will there be adverse effects (what?) from driving it like this? Read more
FT, have a quick look back in that area - I *think* there are some earth connections to the cylinder head - you might have disturbed a loose connection there.
Failing that, with the engine running, and someone watching the dashboard light, have a wiggle of the wires you have described, you might find an obvious poor connection, or even a partialy broken wire (where the conductors inside are broken, but the insulation makes the wire appear OK from the outside)

Hi,
I currently have a sales rep working for me
I bought him a 2003 Vectra diesel, it does around 40mpg
He complains at putting £70 in the tank every week He does around 300-350 miles per week
I'm interested in getting him an astra running lpg - are there any other factory conversipons? eg citroen xantia, volvo s40 around 2000-1 cars
How much can he save? What about say, a 1.5 diesel, xantia ?
yours,
Tom Hamer

I wouldnt want to do thousands of miles a month in a Peugeot 306!
I did. Perfectly OK. Nice ride, decent seats, lowish noise levels and big fun off the motorway.
Cheers

Does anyone know the difference between petrol and diesel fuel additives and what would be the effect of putting diesel additive in a petrol car? - Thanks Read more
At the risk of stating the obvious.... don't put the wrong one in
Some trade-only additives are great, not so sure about the high street ones...
I live in the Glasgow area and was just wondering if Motorpoint are any good? I contacted them for a rough trade-in price but they never got back to me so now I am wondering if they are best avoided. They seem to have very good prices but I was wondering if the valuations on the trade-in car would be a bit low to compensate for their prices. Read more
As least they don't do that cheap trick of putting a bit of tape over
the original dealers details - that does look rubbish
Agreed!
I always had our sales stock re=plated, with our name on them.
It's the first part of the vehicle a buyer looks at & always made us look more professional. I think.

My 96 Mondy has what I think is a common problem where the blower only works on the max speed (4 I think)
Is this a switch fault or something else?
Many thanks,
Stuart Read more
Stuart - you've done well for it to last this long! This happened to my '97 Mondy almost 6 years ago at 68,000 miles. Mine went with the characteristic smell of smouldering socks!
