The wifes Corsa 1.2 has a intermittent missfire, the car is driveable and no EML showing. I have changed the plugs. My next thought is to change the coil pack. Anyone had similar problem.

Vauxhall Corsa - P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected B-22 - hrhjett

If after replacing the spark plug, your still getting this code - Open up your camshaft and tighten every last bolt before it snaps. They come loose over time, its a manufacturing fault, hence tapping noise - eventually snapping your camshaft. Problem solved.

My 1.3 Fiesta has been over revving when the clutch is depressed so I have decided to have a good look under the engine bay, I have noticed this sensor was unplugged (marked A) and since plugging in the car seems to run smoother and the over revving is not as obvious. However I can't work out what this sensor is or how its connected to anything that will cause the over revving.

Sorry to hihack the thread - I was there for this EVAP valve related to some problems in my FORD Fiesta IV (i'm from Italy) - and I just saw this comment related to ZX80 computer, and I flipped up! :) As a Computer Museum curator, this really hit me :D

BTW I'm having problem with my Fiesta IV and I just discovered that the rubber tube connected to the valve box is cracked. This means that fresh air can be "sucked" and so this can be the problem of my car going crazy sometime, as if it's loosing one cylinder, and maybe for this high fuel usage I have now (12km/l for an Endura-E 1299cc)

ps this forum is very very nice! :D

Could the assembled company , or even HJ himself please comment
on the wisdom of buying a BMW Z3?

Say 5 years old; 1.9 engine and 50,000 miles; FSH. Price £8000.

I get a feeling that over a couple of years and another 25000 miles
it could still depreciate quite heavily as well as potential wear and tear
running costs.

A member of my family thinks it is a good deal !

Please help!!

All your replies much appreciated. I would agree with the suggestion of 3 Series convertible but comparatively pricey.

Problem solved by buying a three year old MX5 1.8 Euphonic from a main dealer. Immaculate condition and Mazda warranty. Cost (me!) a shade more but good for piece of mind. I'm insured to drive it too.

Thanks again all.

Hi,

Car wouldn't start due to an electrical fault. It turned out that one of the pins in the ECU connector had corroded away because water got into it. Got the car towed to the garage, solution sir; new ECU + new wires + labour, total cost = £1400 HELP!
No one has touched these wires since the car left the factory, the connectors to the ECU is protected by a plastic "boot" held in place with a tie wrap, not exactly very water proof. Looks like a design fault to me. I found the following on this website.

Under: Xara Picasso , What to Watch Out For;

"Several reports of terminal corrosion of multipin connector terminals to ECU, requiring new ECU. The connector cannot be sufficiently well waterproofed. Seems to affect Picassos from 2004."

I have contacted Citroen UK but they say, sorry but we can't help since the car is more than 3 years old (it's 3 1/2 year old, 04 reg).

Any ideas where I go from here? I wonder were honestjohn.co.uk got the information about the ECU problems from, would be useful to know?

Thanks

I have a 54 plate Picasso. The Ecu has decided to not start when warm. It'll start when cold, but is you turn the car on and do a short jouney then it be difficult to start if not impossible. you get a warning that it wont start by the fan starting in the engine compartment. The ECU has decided to tell the fan to start up, then the dashboard tell you the ESP has been disengaged, then the hand brake is faulty, then the engine immobiliser has kicked in. All this started with a worrying stutter that occasionally happened when exellerating from a junction.

Seriously, If anyone should consider recommending such fault ridden vehicles to family or friends - DON'T....

I bought my 2003 Focus C-Max 1.6 tdci 4wks ago. Had no real problems so far. It has covered 55,000mls and has been serviced by main dealers, but i have begun to notice a tapping/rattling noise from the engine when i put it under load/acceleration. I don't have the noise at tickover or when the engine is cold. If anything, it's when the engine gets warmer after a few miles that it becomes noticeable. I'm not sure if this is normal for a diesel engine, i had an old Astra 1.7 TD which was noisy as hell, and was hoping my 'newer' Ford would be much quieter!
I've seen on other websites people mention hydraulic tappets.
Anyone have any ideas or advice or similar experience?

Many Thanks.....

Ask the seller to have it done; even if they refuse, at least the existence of the fault was logged.

If you don't have a dropped kerb, does it damage the car to drive onto and off your drive over the edge of the pavement.?

To explain, we're considering a corner-position property which has been extended such that the garage is now close to a curved boundary and hence doesn't have a straight driveway from the garage to the existing dropped kerb. Removing a few of the side fence panels would make it possible to drive straight out, but it would be over the pavement at a point at which it curves round into the side road and hence doesn't have a dropped kerb. I think it would be safe to do so because it's a quiet estate and the side road is a cul-de-sac.

Creating a new vehicular access would surely require planning permission?

How about buying a Hummer? 4" kerb? P'shaw...

Somehow managed to get the screen on my Kia Sorento covered in some sort of greasy film. Tried everything from new blades to Autoglym, to meths, cellulose thinners to detergent and NOTHING would shift that fine greasy smear. Looked up on the search and found recommendations of vinegar and newspaper. Success!!! Job done.

Recently I have used Windowlene, the clear stuff in a pump spray.
This is marked as being suitable for windscreens and was effective inside and out on both our cars.

I've noticed some of these new-fangled wiper blades coming on the market that claim to "apply pressure at over a thousand points for better wiping". They also claim to be more aerodynamic. Does anyone here have any experiences of them? Are they just merely more aesthetic?

I'm particularly interested in how they clean obviously, but also how they perform in terms of lift at speed. I had some fitted to an Opel Astra hire car in Germany last weekend, and frankly wasn't impressed - they juddered and didn't clean any better although this didn't seem to be speed dependent. The blades don't develop a "set" on my Octavia. Every fifth time the ignition is turned off the blades move either up or down about an inch to make them lie differently. Neat.

My 115k Mondeo has recently started to behave oddly, on just three occasions now, 6 weeks apart in total, it has 'missed', 'coughed' and stalled - tank was nearly full of diesel and NO lights came up on dashboard - although difficult to restart, it did every time and off we went!

Took it to my Ford Garage for a major service after the first 'event' and they found nothing out of the ordinary, so we carried on using it - now happened again and after leaving it with
the same garage, they have 'diagnosed' the fault as the Fuel Pump, which they say needs replacing, at a total cost of .....................................£1400 !!!!!!!!!! Yes you read it correctly!

Not being particularly wealthy, I have now done 2 things (A) looked around on the internet and spoken to Diesel specialists and (B) put a number of questions to the dealer in an email.

They seem a little reluctant to respond and confirm that IF I spent all this money, it would absolutely 100% cure the problem :-)

In addition, they have also gone a bit 'fuzzy' over my questioning around whether they have actually read the ECU on the Fuel Pump itself, which I am told is very important!

The other information I want to share with the forum, is that they claim that so far, they have spent THREE AND A HALF HOURS diagnosing and test driving the vehicle and the bill so far stands at just under £300 - BEFORE they do any work - is this a rip off or what AND as stated, they don't seem keen to offer me a guarantee that it will fix the problem!!

Anyone out there with a view - or more experience with stuff like this....?

I have to say the car has been great until now, but if I had known that to fix a fuel pump would cost £1400 - I would NEVER have bought it - guess there's a whole bunch of new questions to ask in future :-))

Eureka ?
This sounds exactly same problem I had for months on my 1.8 Focus TDCI 03 plate
Always told it was a fuel delivery issue, and I paid 2K bills for new fuel pump system, new PCM etc
And at the end of the day it was a chaffed lead under the gearbox that was a lead in the fuel electrics set up. This gave an intermittent problem
If it will not start just try starting it with the gear lever in (say) 4th gear and see if it goes cos thats exactly how my dealer cracked the issue I had by a (happy) accident.
Your problem sounds so like the one I had, worth checking this out.
Incidentally I am pursuing Ford for re-inbusrment
Just hope my thoughts save you the 6 months of a nightmare I had.
PS dont expect the Ford Customer Relations Centre th assist you - its just an agency contracted by Ford and all its worried about is hitting its internal targets on quick answers and once you have a long duration problem they just pester you to close down your complaint.
