Hi,
Can you tell me the best car/engine/fuel for me. I have a diesel 2.2 hdi Citroen C5 at the moment, and also have a caravan that I use in total 4 weeks a year (travel to europe for summer holiday) the C5 pulls it lovely but do I need a Diesel? only drive about 8000 miles a year. If I don't need a Diesel what car and engine do you recommend ( I have around 9k to spend ).
P.S Caravan = 1300kg gross
Thanks
Mark

Please can anyone help me with this, I have a 406 2.0LX Est, When you open the drivers door the hazard lights come on, it doesn't happen with any other door. You then have to press the hazard light button to turn off. It doesn't seem to matter whether you lock the car with the key or the remote. Also I have noticed if you take time to get out of the car on locking it the hazard lights flash. I am not sure if it has an alarm as I've never heard it or can find any reference to it in the manual.
Any ideas anyone please.....

This is making excellent reading, I purchased a second hand N-reg 2.0 litre Vectra and i am having problems with the fob/Alarm...The fob is very tempremental and only sometimes seemed to work up to now...If the car is locked i would have to open it with the key which would always set the alarm off...I have replaced battery and its not that...Local vauxhall dealer looked at it and said they had fixed it (never thought to ask exactly what they did but they never charged me so im assuming they just changed battery and got lucky)...It worked fine for the rest of the day then when i went to get in it this morning after it had been sat outside since thursday it would not unlock with the fob again...I have just tried the reprogramming advice and it seems to be working now again but will this happen again or should it now be fixed, any ideas folks??...Ta. See my reply to your same question in the other posting.
Hi, what with the weather brightning up a little and the days getting a little longer I'd like to clear the cobwebs from my car. I am based in north surrey, any suggestions? I normally go down the A25 or A3. I'd like some dual carrige way and maybe some twisty B roads. All the roads round here are 40 limits and often busy. I know its hard these days. Maybe somewhere down near the coast? The only good bits I can remember are round Romney.
Anyway, looking for some ideas so please hit me with your routes. (oh, Scotland is out of the question although it does have some of the best, and most frightening(!) roads I know off). Please routes only in Surrey/West Sussex please.
Cheers all.

In my youth I did a bit of market research interviewing. Around 1960 when living in Wimbledon I did some door-to-door interviewing in my neighbourhood there the afternoon, which could get responses from housewives and retired people (in those days). One of these afternoon respondents was a young, charming and very quiet and well-behaved Oliver Reed - it was his real name - who gave his profession as 'actor'. That explained why he was in on a weekday afternoon. Of course the interview was very boring, but that particular respondent was as good as gold.
There was no sign of hell-raising tendencies, mid-afternoon intoxication or any of the bloodshot eyeballs/broken veins side-effects of these things. I myself then and later had more than a nodding acquaintance with booze and so forth, but in the mid-afternoon we were both on our best behaviour. Just as well really because I can't stand tiresome drunks even when I am being one myself.
i recently disconnected the battery becasue i replaced my throttle position sensor. Come to reprogramme the key fob as the book said - doors unlocked, key in the ignition to the 1st click and immediatly pressed the large button
The doors locked and lights flashed as usual but outside the car the key wouldnt work. However it would work when inside the car
after numerous attempts at this i even got the key working when outside the car for a while then this stopped.
I tried disconnecting the battery to start again but no luck
any ideas? thanks Read more
scfc hi mate,
i had this prob with my 306 xud dturbo. i found that the 2 batteries in the key fob needed replacing and the connection on the batteries in the key had too much clearence and wasn't making a good enough contact to power the central locking at distance. hope this helps
Latest car available in my local area that has caught my interest:
1999 T reg SEAT CORDOBA 141,000 miles Manual Diesel Cordoba Vario (Estate), 1.9TDI, 141K miles FSH, clean well maintained, 2 owners from new, had since 2000.
Thoughts on fuel economy, reliability etc for the subject vehicle would be appreciated from owners or others that may have experience.
Many thanks in advance. Read more
Thanks for the opinion. Hopefully it will last me quite some time and turn out to be good value for money and I can come back on here in a year or so and post to that effect.
Does anyone know how to switch off the interior sensors on a StreetKa alarm, or even if it's possible?
Cheers

Can anyone tell me if a 2001 306 hdi would have an ecu that learns the drivers style? I was wondering whether it is possible to increase mpg by 'resetting' the ecu?
I have just replaced the throttle position sensor too so would it learn about how the car is driven over time or is there a way of kind of clearing the data to start from scratch
forgive me if this is a daft and/or vaugue question

ill give it a go let you know how it goes cheers
I read on Yahoo news that two of the containers washed off the beached ship in Devon contain hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of BMW motorcycles, and car spares.
Police are warning people to stay away from beached containers because of the 'possible danger'...
Cut-price Beemers, anyone?

As a substitute for drinking water, yes. Foundryworkers were given beer as part of the job, as were farm workers. Obviously you can't chug 8 pints in four hours as some might on a night out, but I don't see why three or even four pints over the course of an entire day would dehydrate you. Better than raw sewage anyway.

This sort of money is sufficient for a BMW 330i. You wont really notice increased fuel costs with your low mileage, and you've plenty of weight and torque for the caravan.
