My wife has a Corsa easytronic,it will not start and is showing aflashing F in the gearshift display,I have renewed two relays but this has not helped. The Tech 2 diagnostics are saying that the ECU thinks it is in 4th gear and will not let it start,if anyone has any experience of the above symptoms and any suggestions I would be delighted to hear from them,it is currently sitting in a vauxhall garage waiting for them to get round to looking at it.cheers Wrock Read more
Just something that has tickled me - Im selling my sisters MGF and I thought that at £5350 I was pushing my luck to the limit despite the low mileage and condition, but the phone is ringing off the hook.
I have one guy driving through the night to see it as I type and five people at two hour intervals tomorrow - have I misjudged the value somehow?
Just to recap, its a 2002 MGF VVC with 26k, FSH with black leather, 2 owners, in metallic blue and a new MOT plus recent service.
Now I was expecting to struggle at anything above a 5 grand asking price and maybe getting £4600 at a pinch, but have I under estimated the cars desirability?
Either that or its silly season! Read more
Ive still got the car as Im having a part on the power steering changed under warranty next wk so hes not picking it up for another week.
Plenty of time to make sure payment is ok.
Well picked it up today, a 44K mile 54 Reg 2.7DSE in Zircon with Cashmere.
I'm in love, I'd intended buying something a fair bit older but the seductive smile
of the sales lady & my wife whispering "Go on have an early 50th Birthday pressie"
So we did, first impressions are it's very smoooth & quite quick.
An useful websites or fora?
Is it a cam chain or belt?
Two things I always said I wouldn't do another diesel & spending that amount of cash.
Well it's still got another years Jag warranty which is extendable & it's my Birthday later in the year so thats my excuse.

Can anyone direct me to the site (I think it may be for M.O.T. info. ) where I can find out (free!) if a car is still registered? - specifically an Austin Healey Sprite I used to own. I used the site a couple of weeks ago but have forgotten the address.
Many thanks,

I was just checking a load of different past cars I have owned/driven. My sisters little 950cc Fiesta ran for 17 years, my mothers first company car an Orion only lasted 5 years!!!!

DSG is excellent - got it on a 2.0tdi Seat Altea. Sports mode is good fun. Had a Merc autobox before and it is not quite as smooth as that was changing down at very low speeds (I'm being very fussy over this though), but going up it's much better than the Merc was.
I have heard from a reliable source that TFL have installed specs (average speed) cameras in the blackwall tunnell. There are no warning signs and the cameras are hidden. As such you cannot be given points on your licence but you can and will be fined for breaking the speed limits that are 30 in one direction and 40 in the other so causing confusion and inadvertant breaking of the above speed restrictions. There are quite a few gatsos on that piece of road, on the south side of the tunnel heading north there's one just as the speed limit goes to 30 in true sneaky style. But I've never seen any in the tunnel... it's the limehouse link tunnel you have to watch out for with SPECS - funny to see all the bankers in their SLs and CLs and 6 & 7 series, going along at a steady 29.9 MPH!!
Passat 2002 DTI PD Estate Interior lights have stopped working. The come manually and all the door swiches work as indicated by the door open warning but thye do not come on. All fuses are OK and all other equipemnt on board is fully functional. Any Ideas Guys. Regards Peter Read more
I think this one has been on here before, the solution being to disconnect the battery and let the ECU / controller reset itself. Changed or disconnected the battery?
i have tried to remove the reversing light switch .
it is too big too slide out i dont want to force it.
any advise.
it seems a complicated looking switch with 4/5 wires
i was wondering if the white plastic comes off first? Read more
The reverse light switch you refer to is a bit of a pain to replace it, it is actually a ball and socket fixing which is why it is a bit of a pain to get out. You have to be a little bit brutal with it.Fitting the new one is not easy either as you have to push the ball home quite hard to get to fit.
I wish to buy some roof bars for my 2004 5 door Megane. Popped down to Halfords and also did some Googling. I can only find bars that are suitable for cars without the panoramic sunroof. I could get some from the Renault garage but they are more expensive and these will only be used once.
I can't see why the panoramic roof should make any difference - the fixing points are nowhere near the glass and the fixings look identical to a model with a completely steel roof.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Read more
Thanks for that link. Anyway I went to the Renault dealer and they will do a set of roof bars for £93 + VAT. This seemed a good price so I have ordered them. Unfortunately the Renault roof box is almost £400 - I am afraid my loyalty is a bit stretched...
However, I was thinking about one of those soft bag things, Thule do one for about £150. The main advantage is that it collapses so is easy to store after the holiday.
Any thoughts or experiences of a soft bag as opposed to a rigid box?

When I'd waited a month for a layshaft for a VW Sharan (it was a taxi!) I actually rang VW HQ in Germany (I can speak German as it happens, but they could speak English perfectly). Two days later I had the part. Maybe you could call GM/Opel in Russelsheim, Germany? I imagine they'll be some on the other end who can speak English.
