Just something that has tickled me - Im selling my sisters MGF and I thought that at £5350 I was pushing my luck to the limit despite the low mileage and condition, but the phone is ringing off the hook.
I have one guy driving through the night to see it as I type and five people at two hour intervals tomorrow - have I misjudged the value somehow?
Just to recap, its a 2002 MGF VVC with 26k, FSH with black leather, 2 owners, in metallic blue and a new MOT plus recent service.
Now I was expecting to struggle at anything above a 5 grand asking price and maybe getting £4600 at a pinch, but have I under estimated the cars desirability?
Either that or its silly season!

Well, I would have said somewhere between £5-5.5k, so I don't think you've mispriced it. Its not sold yet though, is it. I guess at least it gives you the confidence to hold firm on the price.

Absolutely. When I sold the Barchetta (sob) I had *loads* of offers at 500-600 euro under, held my nerve and sold at just 100 under asking price. Best of luck, hope it goes OK.

Well since the tax runs out at the end of the month Im going to let £100 off as a goodwill gesture and hold firm at £5250 as its only been on sale since wednesday.
I guess Im just a little shocked at how much interest there is, esp given that this is TF money.
Then again, there are alot of bad MGFs out there and the guy coming tonite has apparently been looking for the right one for months. I know it took me 2 months to find this MG for my sister after looking at a lot of ****, so maybe its more about finding a good one than book price. I know its a good one and the MOT tester said its as straight as you will see one.
I just wish id stuck a few more hundred on the price now!

I can hardly believe it but the guy who came tonite bought it in the dark, loved it compared to the MX5 and Z3. Didnt even haggle past the £100 that I was going to knock off for the tax. Really nice chap too, glad hes having it.
Anyone who says people dont want MGs is way off the mark by my experience tonight. Ive never sold a car so easily.

I know I'll get stoned by the crowd for saying it, but it was a purer sports car than most two seaters. Like everything else Rover a cracking idea ruined by cheapskating. A mid-engined gas suspended production car for peanuts ??
Real shmae they didn't spend more on it - tragic.

Its somewhat more manly than the MX-5 and Z3 I think, slightly classier looking if not with the build quality.
The later facelifted models werent that bad at all, just they need regular and precise looking after which doesnt suit the average person. My sister looked after hers and had a year of fun and speed.
Now its being passed onto someone else who will hopefully get the same enjoyment from it.

I hope you counted the cash in the light and ensured it was kosher

Ive still got the car as Im having a part on the power steering changed under warranty next wk so hes not picking it up for another week.
Plenty of time to make sure payment is ok.
