I need to replace the rear bush (the one that bolts through the floor) on my standard 106 left front 'wishbone'. Are they difficult to remove from the wishbone and do you need a special tool as my manual suggests?
Thanks for any tips

Renault Megane 1.6e Sport (R reg)
The car starts and runs normally until it warms up when the engine cuts out and would not start until it cools down. Clicking sounds can be heard from the fuel pump relay and the injectors.
The longer story: Some time ago my sister?s car suddenly started to misfire. AA called and towed it home. Local independent garage replaced coils and the car seemed to work for a week. Then suddenly it started the "coughs" again but could run for several miles to home. We took it for a short test run when it stalled. The garage towed it in again and had been looking at it for a week but could not fix it and gave up. They claim that unlike during the first visit the diagnostic tool did not show any error codes. They also tried to run it with fuel relay bypassed but it did not make any difference. Suggested to go to a Renault garage but the nearest is 15 miles away and my experience with them is that they are expensive and not very reliable.
Has anybody experienced similar problems? Is there anything that can be checked or fixed without special testers and diagnostic tools?

We called local mobile electrician/mechanic who quickly found the offender. As elekie&a/c doctor suggested it was bad ECU connection: good cleaning of both the plug and the socket had fixed it.
Hi- due to the distance from my exchange, until recently I have only been able to get broadband at 512kb over our BT line. However, the BT website line tester now says we can get 'up to 3Mb'.
I emailed my provider, Tiscali, requesting an upgrade to their 2Mb package, but they replied that 512kb is the maximum my line can support. I asked them to double check, and they still say 512 is the limit.
I have just spoken to a BT broadband technical person, with a view to switching to BT if he could guarantee that my line could support 2Mb. He did a test which backed up the website's claim of up to 3Mb, adding that BT are able to boost or 'max' the signal to provide a higher speed than other providers.
This is news to me- anyone else heard of it? I wouldn't might switching to BT if it wasn't for the fact that Tiscali (who have been ok) do 2Mb unlimited for £15 whereas BT is £18 with limited downloads.

A subject I wanted to discuss for a while was why are some identical diesels more noisey at idle than others ?
My A4 TDI 130 performs well, gets a good deal of hard motorway work and returns good fuel consumption, but tends to be noisier at idle hot or cold than other 'same-engined' cars such as other A4's or Passats etc.
Why does the readership think this is ?
Are diesel cars driven very gently less noisy ?
I would have thought it would have been the other way round.
Views please. Read more
"The diesel engine is so unclattery that I had to get out to check the badge"
That's because the 300CRD is about 5 metres from engine to front seat..:-)

You know when an important sailor goes on board a ship and they blow that funny little whistle?...thats what my newly purchased wifes Pug 307 sounds like when I dab the brakes...
Should I just go Kwik-Fit a new set of pads or is there an alternative?
Just bought the car and its done 100,000 miles....should I entrust to Halfords to do a cam change?...can they test/look at it to see if it needs doing?...anyone know how expensive it will be? Read more
Might be better seeing if local Peugeot dealer has an express fit department, very good on prices for brakes etc plus you will get OE Peugeot pads of the anti squeal type.
1.4 HDI cambelt, no idea im afraid.
There's a few around here.
No front number plate. So are they a bike?
No helmet on rider. So are they a car?
Tyres appear to be off-road. Blocks of rubber not tread.
Exhaust sounds much louder than street legal.
On a side note. If a motorcycle combination doesn't require a front number plate. What about a three wheeler (Reliant)? I'm thinking money-making (sorry speed) cameras. Read more
what exactly does " a two wheeled version of a quad bike " actually mean? is it by chance a motorcycle?
if you look at the link although technically it has 2 wheels it fits the usage type it more often connected with quad bike than motorcycle dont you think?
Any body ever done a head gasket(s) on 1 of these?
Sounds like a nightmare to do, any known problems/tools etc to watch out for?

I discovered today that my Freelander has heated mirrors. If the ignition is on, so are they. This seems very unnecessary to me. Linked to the rear de-mist maybe. According to the manual, they are on the same fuse as the rear washer, so I can't just pull the fuse. Not a major issue, but it seems stupid running around in the summer with heated mirrors. Any ideas/coments? (short of cutting the wire please).

I am thinking of purchasing a bluetooth car kit for my ageing Fiesta, so don't want to spend much. I've tried the bluetooth type that plug into the 12V socket, with speaker and mic built in, but didn't find that to be any good. Although I could hear the caller well enough, they couldn't hear me (the 12V socket is down by the gear lever and so too far from my mouth). I have seen a different type on ebay (and elsewhere) for around £40, which clip on the sun visor and so the speaker and mic are much nearer the mouth. Are they any good - do they work? Any info greatly received. Read more
I completely agree, I still have no wheels (student he-he), but my father uses Jabra. Prices on kits are completely different, if you need something that is cheaper there still full of competing manufacturers who, in general, have good devices, and the price is completely different. If you rely on all sorts of reviews and tops of the bluetooth kit, then besides Jabra, other good manufacturers are also Parrot, Supertooth, iClever. That is, you will always have to choose from. Look at the Amazon or the ebay, or just in the store of your city. I hope you`ll pick up stuff you need.
Currently drive a 2001 Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec and am very happy with the car (apart from mpg) however as it now has 90 000 miles on the clock I think the time has come to look for a replacement. Quite a few Mondeo 1.8 Zetecs on the go for reasonable money but just wondered if engine was big enough for the size of the car and if so does mpg suffer. I do not really do enough miles now to justify a oil burner. Any thoughts welcome.

Cheers for all the info. Will mostly be town driving. I have lined up a test drive of a 2.0 for the weekend.

I would agree. When the wishbone busges went on SWMBO's Fiesta, I just swapped the complete arms out. Having had nightmares pressing bushes in on various cars, it really isn't worth the hassle when the complete replacement arms are so cheap.
Cheers
