Freelander & heated mirrors

Freelander & heated mirrors - joegina
I discovered today that my Freelander has heated mirrors. If the ignition is on, so are they. This seems very unnecessary to me. Linked to the rear de-mist maybe. According to the manual, they are on the same fuse as the rear washer, so I can't just pull the fuse. Not a major issue, but it seems stupid running around in the summer with heated mirrors. Any ideas/coments? (short of cutting the wire please).

The Audi ones are on whenever the mirror adjust switch is in the middle position. If I move the switch it turns the function off.
