Why do garages advertise this as a positive when advertising a used car? To me it means:
a) Excessive Clutch/Brake wear
B) Short run syndrome (Thirty seconds to local corner shop and back)
C) Lots of minor parking dents Read more

My wifes polo service hand book says to change every 40,000 miles.I have just changed hers for the second time at 80000 miles.
My Mondeo TDCi 130 was bought new from Trade Sales in 2003 and since then I've had no probs. Recently I've started hearing a blowing noise from the driver footwell position and the car seems to have less power than normal. A few people have suggested horror causes like the Cats fallen aprt etc. Anyone come across this? I took the underpan off this evening and had a good look round but couldn't see anything wrong.
The other really bizzare thing is when I was looking round at stuff I took the front grill off to see the pipes going into the intercooler and there is a metal tube / beam that goes right across the front. I think this is a crash beam or something. Anyway there is a massive dent in it which pushes it back so it is just touching the intercooler and to me it looks like the car was driven into a post or something. Yet the plastic bumper and grill in front of this are perfect and I have never damaged the car in any way. I guess I wonder if this damage was done before buying it in 2003 and somehow covered up. Does this kind of thing happen in this day and age??

Thanks for the info about Cats. I had always thought they were for petrol engines, so I've learnt something today.
Anyone had trouble with these?
If so, how much were the parts and labour costs involved and how often does this happen?
Thanks Read more
I think its time to change the tyres on my Omega Elite.
235/45 x 17. I've previously used cheapo tyres & each time as the wear rate indicator starts to show the dreaded tramlining becomes more prominent until eventually its to dangerous to drive.
I've read all the threads but I can't see that anyone has found a satifactory tyre that is quite & does'nt tram, apart from the NCT 5's.
Anyone got any comments? Read more
TYREXPERT--I read your reply of 14th December re Omega tyres with
interest. I have a severe tramlining problem with Goodyear Eagle F1`s
on my Omega 2.6 CDX. At 7000 miles it`s getting worse.
Size 225/55/16. Reading the chats the choice seems to be between
Pirelli P6000 or Michelin Pilot Premacy or HXMXM. My local Meritts
(S.Bucks)quote £104 fitted Pirelli, and £140 either Michelin. Obviously Pirellis look
favourite. Please, what is your advice? Regards Omegalen
Apologies for delay in replying. I have been away for a few days. My branch managers have informed me that we have had more than a few Omega owners with similar complaints as yourself. Though when checking with the tyre manufacturers none were aware of any specific problems with directional tyres as a fitment to these models. I would agree with other posts on this thread that the Excellence is getting very good customer feedback. The two brand variants you mention are now getting a bit long in the tooth so I would suggest you may consider the Pirelli P7 (£110) or the Michelin Primacy (£122). The Excellence price is around £110. I am not aware of the company you mention, but if you post your nearest town I may be able to reccommend a quality independent...
Does anyone know if the 3 cyl 12 valve 989cc engine in the Perodua Kelisa and Daihatsu Charade is chain cam or belt cam?
I would like to know as I have just bought a 52 plate Prodder Kelisa auto.
Thanks Read more
Thanks.Iknew that the engine is basically Daihatsu/Toyota, but thought that the small engines were chain cam.
Driving my 306 last night and the healights died!Side lights and main been work ok but no head lights.Does this indicate (no lighting pun intended) that it maybe the switch thats at fault and not a wiring problem? It did seem strange the way they just stopped working!!
Anyone experienced this?
All help gratefully recieved!!! Read more
Forgot to say i checked the fuse, fuse ok!
Sort of a driving thread.
Was walking to visit my good old mum the other day. On route I saw the most ugly, ugly UGLY drive way. Basically, you have a bog standard red brick 1930's end of terrace house with a frontage of no more than a Mondeo's depth. The 3 sided brick wall was constructed of yellow stock(to go with the red obviously!)it was way too high for a front brick wall, and had 6ft pillars with concrete lions atop as gateposts.
Breath taking blingery if ever I saw it. Not a single redeeming feature about it at all and completely spoilt a nice looking row of houses. Lozza Llewelyn Bowen would commit suicide if he saw it (and he has ghastly taste!)

My spark plugs need changing. I need eight!! in the 1.6 TS engine.
One set of four is NGK PMR7A. Thats fine.
The other four can be either NGK PFR6B or NGK BKR6EKPA. The PFR6B have an electrode gap of 0.7mm, but the others have either 0.8 or 0.9mm gap depending on which info you believe.
How do I know which to take if gap distance varies?
Which would be better? Read more
how tight a fit is the feeler gauge? 0.1 is less than the wear from new to old guages! happy plugchanging
