Actually a Peugeot Partner 2.0HDi but it's the same as a Berlingo.
Had clutch changed two weeks ago at around 145k miles.
Two weeks later I start hearing a whine on third gear. But the whine only appears either after moving from rest changing up from first and second, or after using third gear for a while, after having travelled in fourth or fifth.
Now, after a couple of days of that, a whine has also appeared on fourth gear and sometimes fifth, again only evident after using these gears for a while.
This, and the faint whiff of gear oil when emerging from vehicle, leads me to suspect I am gradually losing gear oil from somewhere.
So two questions: am I right? And secondly, how do I check / top up the oil level, and what fluid to use? Will need to use the vehicle for some time before any leak, if there is one, can be remedied. Read more

or just hot air?
I understand that in Portugal they have the ability to reduce the amount of tax on fuel in situations like this, sounds like a reasonable idea to me, after all £1 a ltr is expensive, especailly if your business depends on it. Read more
I have heard a rumour that beef and lamb will be in short supply soon.
If I was you I would stock up with plenty now, while there is some in the shops.
You would be surprised how many would take that seriously.I dont eat either so would not bother me,But do find it annoying how many panic with a fuel situation,of which if they carried on as normal there would be no shortage of fuel.As for those that do store fuel it can only mean they are selfish,And wish to help assist in making the problem worse

I have read in the below post, that Castrol and Quantum oils are made in the same place. Is this true? If so, are any of thier oils the same?
www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?v=e&t=20...8
I only ask because tomorrow I?m booking my car in for a service at a local VW specialist. They put Castrol GTX Magnatec for modern engines (10w/40) in the last time. This met the all the VW standards and was reasonably priced. But I?ve also read the oil used by VW, Quantum branded, are supposed to be better. As a result, I was going to ask if they had/could order some Quantum Silver 10w/40 semi-synthetic instead.
I don't want to make extra hassle for them, if the two oils are very similar blends, and thus GTX would have sufficed.
Any comments?

They both come from the same plant in Cheshire.
Also Tesco and Halfords own brand is the same oil as Castrol GTX.
Brother in law has at present an Audi 1.8 petrol which has enjoyed but has now done over 140k. He is thinking of changing to a diesel A6 and has seen the 52 reg one quoted below in a main dealers for £12,800. He asked me what I thought!! Unfortunately I have no knowledge of these cars (among many other things!!)
I have sent him link to HJ CBCBD and to discussion which took place on here in June with regard to "Audi A6 - which diesel?" but wondered if anyone had any further opinions on these
Thanks

Anyone know how to change the keyfob battery on an X reg Zafira?
Can't see how you get the keyfob open.
Presumably the same fob is used on the Astra?

Thanks guys, will give it a go.
I have been looking to do this for some time. I am looking at starting out for the first time trading from home.
I am looking for some help / advice. I think I have most things covered off. The only thing I have left is trade insurance. i have spoken to a number of companies that dispose of cars and they are looking for trade insurance as proof I am in the trade. I dont work in the motor trade and have had a few quotes but they all seem to be £2000 plus. Does anyone know of a good company that is fairly proced for starting out ! Does anyone know a policy where I can get a month by month policy rather than shelling out for a year if it doesnt work out !
I have a fair knowledge of buying cars at auction as I have purchased a fair few over the years.
Can anyone recomend a good company for motor trade insurance and any other tips to help me get this venture up and running.

I have a 2002 Astra, it has a 1.6 single ohc engine with air con. The Haynes manual says that the torque setting for this car (alloy sump) should be 33lbf. The manual then specifically states that the dohc 1.6 engine with a torx type(rubber ring)plug should be 10 lbf. As my car has a torx type plug I have done it up to 10lbf. I checked it by hand afterwards and it feels correct. Could my car be fitted with a dohc sump (as I suspect) the manual only goes up to sept 2000 could this be the cause of the confusion? Thanks. Read more
The later cars (2000 on) seem to have the alloy sump with the Torx socket plugs in them. Renew the O ring and torque to 10 lbf. Dont go tighter as these plugs have a huge washer face which makes them difficult to remove if overtightened especially as they seem to be made of cheese!

Simplicate and add lightness!!
Turn the headlight switch on & dipped beam won't come on either side,
Have checked fuses & bulbs all ok. Probably an earth or relay fault but which relay ??
