A scenario;
Two (independant) parties, Jack & Harry, buy a property 50/50 between them. Jack pays for his half with cash, Harry takes out a mortgage. The property will be a holiday home for both their families and at other times, rented out with profits split equally.

The question(s);
If down the line, for whatever reason Harry defaults on his mortagage payments, what would the implications be for Jack? Would they be different if he had taken out a mortgage himself?

Why do women always insist on leaving the remote controls for

the TV, cable etc on top of the Television?

I have an R reg (March 98) Fiesta Ghia (1.25 Zetec) that has a built-in immobiliser and alarm. The trouble is I've just sold it and I've now discovered it's playing up a few days before the handover :-(

The two-buttoned remote key stopped working first, and replacing the battery had no effect - do the remote and in-car remote receiver need to be synchronised again?

Secondly, the alarm keeps going off after 30 seconds when locked (with the key, remote still doesn't work). Is there a way to determine what's triggering the alarm? The car was recently serviced and something may have been disturbed?

Should have left the thing alone!

Cheers for any help

Oh my God.

Keep calm Adam.

I think this is the first time that my advice has actually worked. 3000 odd posts and here we are!

Glad it's sorted anyway R. Good luck getting rid of it too.

My primera has done 105K. The gearbox is now getting stiff to engage 2nd gear when the car has been standing for some time (e.g. overnight) but is much better after a few miles run. It is time for a new gearbox or is there another solution? The problem seems to have slowly become worse over the last three months. Engaging 3rd, 4th and 5th is OK at any time. Any suggestions of who might be able to fix it? I live in Kent.

Fair point Aprilia. Only did the job the other day, so I suppose I should really give it a bit longer :) Still, it's been worthwhile in any case.

I have a 2005 Primera and I was led to believe the gear shift was via cables to the box, don't know if earlier models same but if they are think this should be first place to check? Hope my input is helpful and that I have done this right, I have problem of mine jumping out of 2nd gear on overrun?.....logicmouse

Morning all,

Does neat antifreeze have a shelf life?

I've had 5L sitting in my garage for about 2 years. I know it degrades in engines when diluted with water, hence the recommendation for bi-annual changes, but what if it remains in the bottle?

Should I flush it down the drain or can I use it.

As we are back to discussing antifreeze, I would only comment that as all except very specialist stuff is fully water-miscible, the amount anyone is likely to dump from one cooling system will soon get diluted to very low levels - and as has been said, will decompose soon as well. There are far worse waste products from cars than stale antifreeze.

While on the topic, my 2008 Pug diesel had its original coolant returned to the engine when the cambelt and waterpump were changed at 10 years old. It was topped up with blue coolant and is still a clean blue. 21st-century antifreeze seems to be much more durable than earlier stuff. If it can stand life in an engine for 13 years, I should think its shelf life must be at least as good.

Hi,
What's 2.2 & 2.0 bar in psi? my tyre pump only deals in psi. Read more

buzbee

so 2.0 bar = 29psi and 2.2 = 31psi?
No. Use the converter DD referred you to.

Or even a bit of simple mental arithmetic -- do they teach it in schools these days?

2.2 is 10% more than 2.0. So what psi is 10% more than 29?

Answer, 29 plus 2.9 = 31.9.

I have a Citroen Picasso Desire as a courtesy car. It came without the owner's handbook, leavning me baffled about various things.

I checked the Citroen UK website to see if there was a downloadable owner's handbook pdf, but couldn't find one. (Why do manufacturer's websites have nothing at all useful on them?)

Anyway, I can't see a rev counter on the digital display. Anyone know what buttons I push to get one?

And by the way, I saw an orange triangle flashing out of the corner of my eye as I took a sharp bend. Any idea what it is?

Thanks. Read more

"I'm pretty sure I saw one of thos fancy torque curve shaped digital tachos on a GM europe product - probably the Opel Monza or early astra mk2 GTE."

The 1980s Celica Supra MA61 has one, and a digital speed display which can do the mph/kph trick too.

Top Gear did one but what do you think?

If someone has done one like this before please delete.

We always played Cindy Lauper's hits en route to our annual holiday when our children were young - then it was put away for the year. So now, if Girls Just Wanna Have Fun comes on, it revives all the great feelings of summers in Devon, France, North Wales etc. More talented than Madge by far - as a chanteuse - don't know how one made it huge but not the other. Well I do, and it's nothing to do with music.

Can anyone advise on the technique for removing the original BMW 'Business' radio/cassette from an E36 3 Series? The radio has a little flap on each side covering what I guess are the removal clips, but after fiddling round for a while I can't see what I need to do with them to release the radio. Thanks in anticipation

This link will take you to an AA site with a chart of car running costs.

tinyurl.com/22t9a

If I have got the details of your car correctly it is costing you over 70p a mile and that is not at today's fuel costs! That is £2,800 a year which would get you quite a lot of taxis and/or car hire when you wanted one for a week or so.

21,000 miles

Driving on the A12 around 70 mph my engine cut out leaving me with no power steering and the brakes going hard, which was extremly dangerous.

Having taking it to a Peugeout Garage the problem was the ECU had crashed and is costing me £500.

Having reading reports from watchdog and looking on here it appears to be a massive problem. Having written to Peugeot customer service manager saying there was a design fault they basically replied thank you for the email where not really intresred leave us alone as we no of no problem with car.

As this is a design fault Iam not prepared to pay the money.

Has anyone gone through the same process with Peugeot and have had any compersation or a refund of any sort.

Regards

21000 miles on an X? Thats less than 4k a year. Lack of use could well be the problem.
