Hi,
I would like to know what the output voltages should be for the engine management sensors on my Focus TDCi, if anyone can help.
Many thanks.

I'd just like to pass on a heart-felt 'Thank You' to all those motorists who took the oppurtunity to stock up on petrol over the last few days.
Buy at the top of the market is my advice: in this way you have the satisfaction of maximising your contribution to the exchequer and to oil company coffers. Plus you've been able to kill some time queueing up; what with the telly being so rubbish these days.

The biggest enemy is the media.
Last week we were listening to local radio when there came reports of long queues at filling stations.
One town, liskeard, where we wenth through last week tended to reflect this but fuel stations around and about didn't.
The van that we were is was low so I did put some in, though I didn't fill up.
Apologies for asking this, as I am sure that it will have been asked many times before. I need to know about how No Claims Discount works. I've searched the forum for "no claims" and it returned 1404 posts, so it's a bit of a needle in a hay stack really.
Back in March white van man pulled into my car on the M60 and failed to stop. Although I gave chase he lost me when he jumped a red light. I gave all the details I could to the police and he was prosecuted. The court case took place 3 weeks ago. He was done for failing to stop and report, but they couldn't do him for dangerous driving as there were no witnesses.
I had to claim on my own insurance, and although they said that they would take action to recover from the other driver, I doubt they will have success following the court decision.
Just last week someone reversed into my car on my drive, and put one heck of a dent into the offside front wheel arch, a large scratch down the whole offside, and a small dent in the rear wheel arch. The quote for repair is £1229.Even though I am at the end of a cul-de-sac, non of the neighbours will own up, even though I have my suspicions.
To the point of the post. How will making 2 claims in 6 months affect my insurance. I'm 32, have been driving for almost 13 years, have had my own insurance for 12, and have been involved in two accidents in the past where people have run into the back of my car at red lights. I successfully claimed against the other people in those instances.
I have protected no claims bonus.
How will my no claims bonus be affected? Am not sure how many years I have, but if I've not made any claims in the 11 years prior to this year it must be quite a bit.
The really annoying thing is that I'm getting rid of the car in 6 weeks in exchange for a shiny new one. Still, at least it's not the new one that is damaged.

I'm quite happy with my premium. It's 3.5% of the value of my car, so on that basis one total-loss accident would wipe out all the premiums I've paid in the last 29 years just to replace the car. And the cost to my insurer of me having such an accident would be much more than just the replacement cost of the car.

My wipers on my Toyota Corolla squeak and make other noises when used (in the wet obviously!) and it drives me crazy!
What can I do to reduce/get rid of these noises? I tried new wiper blades, but to no avail...
Any tips welcome!

I find Autoglym glass polish is very good. Rubs off easily and leaves no haze or streaks - and of course, it makes the wipers glide better.

I have a new 1.6HDi Citroen Picasso and my intention was to run it in by increasing maximum rpm as the mileage increased, as advised by HJ in the Saturday Telegraph some weeks ago. Unfortunately it has no rev counter and neither the gear ratios or mph/1000rpm are given in the handbook. I have asked Citroen UK for the information but they are unable to provide it. Does anyone know what the mph/1000rpm is for each gear for this car? Read more
I's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot.
As part of a recent car purchase there's free insurance for a year.
My wife (principal driver) and myself are both described as "retired". However, there's a possibility that I might take some part-time work outside home if it became available. Or, I might have to travel in a self-employed capacity.
For some reason the policy specifically excludes "travelling to work". I've talked to the insurance co. telephone representative and, according to her, I should contact the company if this happens.
This seems a very awkward way to meet our requirements. Does anyone know what's going on here? After all, the retired are encouraged to be economically active. Read more
BTW, 11 years accident record is not relevant. Nobody counts >> past 6 and very few count past 5

nobody counts past 6 ??
only if you ignore esure, who count upto 20 years.

What, you mean to tell me you havn't done this?
Og course i have - i'm the midget!
With a major lifestyle change imminent ? moving from central London to deepest East Anglia, I've really got to replace my trusty old K-reg Saab 900 (brilliant pieces of kit!) with something more suitable for the increased mileage that I'll be doing, plus a dog and all the other bits & pieces.
Obvious choice is a nearly-new 9-5 estate. But something keeps saying 'Subaru'. Haven't seen a word said against the new Legacy wagon, although there aren't many about nearly-new, esp automatics, and those that I've seen are more dosh than the Saab.
Anyone got experience of either? I'm not bothered about absolute load carrying capacity, more about seat comfort (Saab seats are fabulous) and general relaxing 'waftability'.
My main worry re. Saabs is about the reliability of the newer ones - my 900 has never missed a beat, but she's a low-tech old thing in comparison to the new ones.
And sorry, I'm just not old enough for a Volvo yet!
Cheers

In 1999 I got a brand new VW Golf GTi Turbo. From day one faulty gearbox that made grinding noises. Replaced under warranty along with some turbo bits. Nicked after six months so cannot comment on long term reliability.
VW Passat 1.8T replacement (2000). Turbo faulty on delivery (sounded like a jet engine taking off). Replaced as was gearbox (I protested it wasn't gearbox though). Door locks faulty. Air bag/wiring issue before 3years old and then air-con compressor failed.
VAG is not reliable anymore. Or have they been for a while?
how do I bypass the immobiliser on my 94 frontera as its gave up the ghost and my car refuses to start. Do I need to go to the VX dealer or it can it be done DIY style? Read more
Is tech 1 or 2 expensive?
Depending on where you go, I imagine somewhere ITRO £30 to £40. Might be less, might be more. Don't quote me on it.
If you've got a spare key, does this also behave in the same way?

Engine no.(last two letters and the five numbers of chassis code) and engine type code are on chassis plate at front of engine compartment.
