Hi Wondering if someone can advise.Got an N.I.P for exceeding the speed limit on a motorway (not excessive, but speeding never-the-less). I am living in temporary accomodation as I am going through a seperation. I recently got a photocard license and informed them of the address change but forgot to inform the DVLC (registration document). However, all my mail is redirected for 1 year. The letter should have been signed for (it was mailed to my old address, but redirected at the Post Office), but it wasn't requested and the "signed for" sticker hasn't been removed at the P.O. If the tracking details are checked, the letter whereabouts is unknown. What should I do?? Read more
Hello all,
have just read the previous post and thought about my cambelt.
The car is a Galant 2.5 V6 1998 with 93k miles. It's had full Mitsi servicing so I guess it's due for it's second belt. Just not sure when.

anyone tried the new diesel (1.9tdi)I \'ve always rated saab - best seats in the business for big mileage but only had the petrol 95\'s. the current 2.2 diesel is rubbish, and I\'m changing from my merc E220 at the end of the year.

looking at the saab website i think its the fiat engine. I fancy it because they offer an auto box with the 150bhp version. I don't want a beemer or merc and I've had saabs before and they've never let me down.

I\'ve seen this mentioned here and there, what exactly is it? (and if anyone says it\'s a red key....):) Read more
I think posted on this a while back. I bought my son a 1996 Fiat Punto earlier this year. Trouble was, it came with only one key - a blue one - and that was heavily worn and in need of replacement.
A local auto locksmith used it to clone a new blue key for £36. New key does everything the original does. My son now keeps the original as a spare.
Red key? You don't need one.
Has a crack in it.The screen looks like it's retained by the rubber only i.e. not bonded or anything like that, would that be right? If so,how difficult to do the job myself?Seem to remember a bit of string is needed,ta very much in advance! Read more
It isnt hard to do. But as it is a crack. Insurance co. May pay for crack to be sealed. would suggest a phone call to insurance co to find out. May cost you nothing.?

Does anybody know where I can get basic servicing information, like, where the coolant drain points are, where does the pollen filter live?
I do not need to rebuild the engine but a Haynes type manual would be useful.
The Handbook and Service book only tell you how to change light bulbs.
Haynes do an Australian version book, but the cars may be completely different.
Other than that it seems to be a very well built little car. Read more
Hiya !
Currently have a Vectra 2.0 GLS and I'm changing to an Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDi (130) (2002 spec).
Can anyone tell me what diffence there is in servicing costs. I expect the Audi to be more, but by how much ??
Many thanks

My local Ford dealer (Burns Congleton) has flat fixed rate of
around £110 per service on all petrol Fords(diesels are more).
Anything much more than £150 a throw (Subaru £350) and it's
a ripoff making Mr Brown look like a miser:-)

Just had my Toyota Avensis (2000-2003 model) serviced (4 year, 40000 miles) at a Mazda (ex Toyota) dealership in the North West the other day, whilst on holiday in the region.
The service was £115 and the MOT £42.
Cheap I thought.
Friend is selling one of these, and I'm considering buying it. A 1995 on an 'N'. Early model without a/c,alloys etc. It's done a genuine 84000 miles and has a fully documented Audi main dealer history. In silver - best colour?
Couple of small dings on real wheel arches have scratched the paint. About £150 to repair.
Interior immaculate, drives very well.
a) what this worth - I reckon about £2600
b) What faults do the petrol turbo & A4 in general suffer from?
All info most welcome. Read more
Never lost a catalyst or had an aircon problem in almost a million miles with these (small fleet - not all my miles). If it has climate then leave it running all the time.
Lots of cars have had the lighter and later wishbones fitted if the old ones have been replaced - much better.
We had one 96 A6 that had the coil problem but only after Audi replaced the originals with new ones!!! In point of fact it was one smallish batch of coils that seems to have created an urban myth that this engine has a problem.
Hi,
Cars developed a gear box problem, gear change is bit vauge and when you move gear stick you can hear it hitting somthing metal underneath! Anyone have any ideas?
Also the cars a t reg nissan primera, 91k miles, dent in off side door and air conditioning packed up is it actualy worth fixing as i wont get much when i re sell. Read more
I agree that these problems are unlikely to be expensive to fix. There are quite a number of bushings on the two change rods (a set at each end of each rod). All together these probably cost less than about £16 and would not be too difficult to renew.
Have air-con re-gassed and take it from there.
does anyone know if a virus would stop me using anti-virus software ? my mums on standard bt dial up , and my bro installed norton 2003 on it and it wouldnt connect to the net (saying server not found) so i un-installed it and tried again , and got a connection , so i installed a different virus checker , and got the same again , so i un-installed it and got a connection straight away ?? You're right.
Assuming the disk hasn't been closed, you could perhaps back more information onto a CD-R if you put it in a different folder. But as they're so cheap, close each one as you burn it!

Presumably the NOIP came as the result of a SC.
Presumably because of address problems you received it out side the 14 days?
Sorry in this case they will have sent it within time to your address as recorded at DVLA for your motor so it is you and not them that have caused the delay in receipt.
Papers would have come with an address of the SC. Sign the 172 Form (drivers details) if you accept you were speeding and return together with details of an address where further correspondence can be received by you i.e. parents/ relative.
