Welcome to Big Brother?s Garage. Along similar lines to Big Brother on Channel 4, there are 12 cars in the garage, and you have to nominate 2 cars that you no longer want in the garage, and give genuine reasons why.
The 12 cars are as follows:-
1. VW Golf.
2. Toyota Landcruiser.
3. Lada Samara.
4. ****** EVICTED Renault 5. ******
5. Ford Mondeo.
6. Alfa 156.
7. Peugeot 405.
8. Seat Leon.
9. Vauxhall Vectra.
10. TVR Tuscan.
11. Perodua Nipper.
12. Citroen 2CV (was formerly a Cit Dyane)
Next Tuesday (6th July), I will attempt to tally up the scores. The cars with fewest votes will remain and the voting process will begin again until we?re left with *hopefully* one (or maybe 2) winner(s).
Well, what are you waiting for? ? off you go.
Remember, nominate two cars only, AND give genuine reasons for eviction.
{Note, slightly amended as some of you might not recognise the Cit Dyane as the 2CV. DD}

Im having problems deciding what to buy , I do like both cars which are Citroen C5 1.8 , or a Vectra (new model)1.8 . Can you please advise me as to what to do as im getting very irrritable now as to what to buy . Please ? Read more
The C5 is a very nice car, but don't pay too much. My local main dealer has an 04 plate genuine ex-demo (950 miles) 1.8VTR on his pitch stickered at £9995.
The 1.8 isn't a bad engine, sure the HDi's are better but they command a fair price premium.
Drive a Mondeo, don't you? *LOL* Read more
Here's one for ND. Farmers Weekly online have a competition to identify bits of a tractor. Prize? A Barbour jacket.

Ill pass this one over to Mrs ND. She had her tractor driving practical today at horticultural college. Bless her, the lecturers have accused her of being a machinery fetishist, with tractors her favourite "specialty", she get's that excited by the prospect of playing with them!
Is there anywhere on the internet I can find detailed depreciation data for cars? Obviously it will be predicted but for example I'd like to know roughly how much a Mondeo TDCi, C5 HDi, Passat TDi etc would be worth at 3,4 and 5 years old. Read more
Speak to the dealer for each model and ask for a finance quote which will be based on a guaranteed future value, then compare with the data published in the above.
I recently purchased a S reg rover 400 with only one alarm/immobiliser key.
I have seen many Rover fobs advertised on Ebay with the description saying they are easy to re-programme at your Rover dealer, for around £15, does any one know if this is true and will it work for previously used keys that are offered, as well as brand new unprogrammed units.

Make sure you say battery wasnt replaced fast enough.I think time allowed is between 20-30 seconds.after that they need recoding by rover.I cant be certain of price so wont speculate.but beware it may not work.it may cost a fortune to get a replacement.but may cost price of fob and recoding to find it wont work.I may be wrong hope I am.good luck

Hello all,
got a letter this morning from one of those Cherished reg places offering me P60 ADL for £360 plus the £80 transfer fee.
What's wrong with that you may ask. Trouble is, my initials are ADL so I'm curious as to how they have that information. PLUS, there's not really anything special about P60 ADL is there? If it was ADL on it's own then maybe but it just looks like a normal 1996 plate.
Before you state the obvious, I haven't put my name down for anything; I only use personal details for official stuff on the net such as banking.
Cheers
Adam

Doh! What a fool. I've been struggling for a while to think of an easy way to remember passwords for all the usual stuff. They recommend letters and numbers to make guessing/hacking them not too easy....it's just dawned on me....you're all probably doing it already....use car registration numbers.
I'm sorry if it's so obvious - it wasn't to me until 5 minutes ago. Read more
In a very secure military environment it was found the majority
of passwords and safe combinations were based on the officer's personal
Army/RAF/Navy number.
Read Richard Feynman's book - he worked at Los Alamos in the war and developed a reputation as a safecracker. Same thing really.
His best story was when he cracked the safe in the senior officer's room. After the war, the officer was away and they wanted to remove the safe as all the vital documents about the bomb were no longer kept in it. They needed to combination, though, so someone called Feynman. He opened it on his first guess; 25-50-25. The default combination that it came from the manufacturer with.
He also managed to side-step all the post-war security and found himself with access to every (yes, every) document about the bomb.
Hi,
My Pirelli 6000's have done nearly 40K miles on my Volvo S60 D5 and they are due for replacement. I'm generally happy with the tyres but I remember reading a good report about the Goodyear F1. It would be nice to have a bit more grip, but I don't want excessively soft compounds, increased road noise and a harsh ride.
Does anybody have any experience with the Goodyear F1? How do they compare with the Pirelli; wear, grip, noise, comfort etc? Are they worth the extra money. Any other recommendations. I'm not a "petrol head", but I do drive reasonable fast, I want a good all round tyre.
I think the size is 205/55/R16

I have put Pirelli P7's on my Passat which has improved the handling and grip. So I would recommend these.
Pointless, so far as I can see. Anyone could have driven off with it.
Herself today fronts up with angelic grin (warning bells immediately jangle). Has locked her keys in car.
Babes it's OK Orlando down the road opened up the car and got them out.
Why didn't you get the spare keys? Because you were sleeping (true, I did lunch well at the local Chamber of Commerce, it being Friday).
Didn't the alarm go off?
Oh just for a minute, made a big noise but Orlando fixed that. he made me 2 more keys also.
How did he get in to the car?
(impatience replaces angelic grin) How do I know?, that's his job. Mahal give me money to pay him. (It is no coincidence that "mahal" here where I live serves as both a term of endearment and the adjective for "expensive").
(weary sigh) How much?
500 Pesos.
What, for 5 minutes' work breaking into your car?
Well he fixed it, didn't he?
You could have woken me and asked for the spare key.
(angelic smile returns) Babe you were sleeping. You know how cranky you are when you're woken up unexpectedly (long fingers begin massaging neck). He's a nice guy just give me the 500 please.

For info, The Golf (12 votes), Lada, (again 12 votes), the Vectra, (14 votes) [**], and the Renault 5 for foul play have all been evicted.
[**] damn you all!! I reckon there was some kind of conspiracy going on.
