I am having some problems with my Discovery front wipers.
They will not work on intermittent setting but will move on normal and fast speed, although they do not stop in the correct position.
on using the flick wipe, they will only move whilst the switch is held down.

As a bit of additional information, the rear wiper has started to wipe when in reverse but NO wiper functions have been selected.

I thought this was just a front wiper park switch problem but now don't know if it could be the body control module.

Any ideas ?

I would think that those in jail wouldn't pay a fine anyway.

I can highly recommend E bay to sell your car if you don't want top price for it.

Well, since the market seems to have fallen lower than low for petrol Xantia hatchbacks, I finally decided to give E bay a try.

Although I was not extatic at how much I actually got for the car, I had decided that it was time to cut my losses and streamline our lives by pricing down the car.

OK so £460 for a P reg 1.8 16v aint great, but the local papers etc bore no serious calls whatsoever.

I was tempted by a free listing day on E bay so decided to try my luck.

Before I even knew that the auction had ended I got a call from Malcolm to ask when he could pick it up.

We agreed a couple of hours time and I have to say, he took one look at it and merely confirmed his decision to go ahead with the purchase, well he was getting a bargain and he knew and admitted it. His view was "get it home then poke around with it and do what needs doing if anything".

Then there followed yet another very smooth pleasent transaction.

There was no haggling as the price had effectively been fixed at the auction, so after counting the money we did the deal in 10 minutes.

He was pleased with the deal and I was pleased to sell it and put the money in the bank.

So, if you need to sell a car and don't want top dollar for it, E bay is the way to do it!

The wife's Scenic has started to mist up badly on recent mornings. Turns out the passenger footwell is very damp (recurring). I've seen threads relating to other cars with similar problems so have checked some basics...it's not losing water, the heating is fine (so I assume not a matrix leak) so I'm assuming a leaking vent or blocked drainplug.

Before I start ripping carpets out has anyone come across this in a Scenic or are there some specific places to look for a leak/blockage?

Many thanks

Help!

I have spent most of the day trying to get the rear upper timing belt cover off so that I can change the belt. I did this job about 4 times on my old BX but the Xantia has me stumped. I have removed the engine mount and every nut & bolt that I can see, but the cover still wont come off. Does anyone know the solution?

I really don't want to have to give up on this.

Now have you ever tried to renew a 306 clutch cable with air con? That does try the patience of a saint.

I own a Mazda 6 which I\'m very impressed with. However I was driving the car when the CD player stopped working, heated rear window went off and then the left indicator came on all by itself. This happened several times in a journey lasting no more than 20 minutes. I asked my son to switch off his mobile phone and the problem cleared.

Could this be caused by mobile phone interference or do I have an intermittant electrical fault? Read more

may be an idea to drive the car for a while with no phone aboard, and see if the problems re-occur, then pick up son, and repeat the drive with him using the phone. that way you may be able to decide if the phone is creating the problems or not.

This isn't really a "what car shall I buy" thread, really just seeing if I am going to make a spectacle of myself.

I currently drive a 2001 Wobbly 3.0 Omega which for reasons I've posted before I've got to get rid of. None of the cars I've driven in the past(mostly company cars) can I honestly say I've enjoyed driving - particularly the Omega. The one real exception was about 15 years ago when I had a Golf Gti 16V (Mk2 I think) - a revelation to me at that time.

So on the basis I want something enjoyable to drive above fuel economy, space etc I'm looking at the Impreza WRX - recent threads on reliability and good residuals back up that this mightn't be a bad choice.

The main thing that concerns me though is if this is a car that attracts unwanted attention from the police and thieves. The Omega driven by a 42 year old is completely anonymous and that's great - I don't want to get stopped every 5 minutes by the police thinking its stolen nor have to worry about where I park all the time.

Any Impreza drivers out there with any thoughts (I did try Scoobynet forum but unfortunately a lot of them do seem intent on attracting attention to themselves).

Arty,
Many cars found in Oz are not found in the UK which in some cases is a good thing...fuel is nearly 2.5 times the price so consumption figures are a very big deal also big cars like the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore simpley will not fit well on our roads and garages and driveways.
Mind you I would not call the Falcon XR6 a sports car....more an agricultural muscle car! The handling of the big Fords has never been a strong point and in noway compares to the Subaru.

I took my 2001 Omega 3.0 for its first MOT last week. It passed but on the accompanying tick list sheet they give you I was intrigued with the brake test figures. They don't give units of measurement but the fronts were 450/420, rears 220/220 and handbrake 270/280.

Should the fact that the fronts are not equal be cause for concern? Presumably this could cause pulling during heavy braking or is the difference to small? And why should they be different - pads have been changed at the same time.

Curiousity really but would be interested to hear your comments.
