I can highly recommend E bay to sell your car if you don't want top price for it.
Well, since the market seems to have fallen lower than low for petrol Xantia hatchbacks, I finally decided to give E bay a try.
Although I was not extatic at how much I actually got for the car, I had decided that it was time to cut my losses and streamline our lives by pricing down the car.
OK so £460 for a P reg 1.8 16v aint great, but the local papers etc bore no serious calls whatsoever.
I was tempted by a free listing day on E bay so decided to try my luck.
Before I even knew that the auction had ended I got a call from Malcolm to ask when he could pick it up.
We agreed a couple of hours time and I have to say, he took one look at it and merely confirmed his decision to go ahead with the purchase, well he was getting a bargain and he knew and admitted it. His view was "get it home then poke around with it and do what needs doing if anything".
Then there followed yet another very smooth pleasent transaction.
There was no haggling as the price had effectively been fixed at the auction, so after counting the money we did the deal in 10 minutes.
He was pleased with the deal and I was pleased to sell it and put the money in the bank.
So, if you need to sell a car and don't want top dollar for it, E bay is the way to do it!

Congratulations, but not entirely a 'free lunch' because eBay will still be charging you (£18 IIRC) a success fee.

My friend sold her dilapidated old camper van on Ebay and got £150 more than she bought it for!!
Fill what's empty, empty what's full and scratch where it itches!

lol people will literally buy anything off ebay too. There were some reports in the press of the following items at auction with their final figures reached:
Empty Coca Cola can with creases in the side - £0.85!!!
£1 coin - £1.65!!!!!
I believe there were more as well - do a search on google :D
But for cars, i would love to try selling on ebay. I recently saw an M3 go for excellent money (97 R go for £16,000!) so it does show that at least there is a chance of getting good money. I believe auto express did an article on selling over ebay and they said it was fast and effective however expect to get a price somewhere between trade and private values.
