Does any body have any idea of the durability of the latest generation cambelts fited to the vectra 2003 model and the forthcoming astra. Previous versions of the astra/vectra required changes every 40,000 down from 80,0000.

any ideas how to get a snapped key out of ignition barrell on clio rt Read more
Hold the spare key up against the broken off one and compare them to see if they're identical. You could also try a squirt of WD-40 in the key hole.
Does a water pump have to be replaced after a certain period of time? i.e. Are they prone to fail at some point?
The reason I say this is that my water pump acts as a tensioner for my timing belt, so if the pump fails then this could ruin my engine? Read more
JohnF,
I am not refering to the car's warranty. When you buy new parts, most of them will come with their own warranty. That's the one you claim on if failure occurs. If that failure also damages something else, then you also should be able to claim for that as well.
Mrs PU passed ! Apparantly a very long and hard day. Trouble with gearchanges, but not re-coursed. Looking for a 125 now for a bit of practice ! Read more
Congrats to Mrs PU.
I did DAS so missed out on the 125 stuff, but biking has been great this summer.
I bottled out of my 2hrs on the road on CBT day. Wind was bending the nearby poplars horizontal and dustbins and small children were getting blown about, but the worst was my poor old desk-pilot's left (clutch) hand. It was extremely painful and I was pleased to give it a rest and do the road stuff another day.
How these folk who sign up for an intensive 5 days of riding and a guaranteed test pass at the end of it cope I do not know. They must have bionic fingers.

My daughter has just bought one of these, which is ex motability. It did not come with a manual - just the warranty/service book and dealer list. Does anyone have one or know how to get one?
Many thanks

Sort of - we only picked up the car this morning, I then went straight out & found outthis evening: we assumed it was all in the folder. I have emailed Nissan and will try a dealer next week.
BTW should have said its a 2000W 998cc
Sorry I have to start with the basic stuff.
Freelander 1.8 petrol has (as I\'m sure they all do) a cover underneath obstructing access to sump plug and oil filter. Any ideas how to get it off without breaking it please ??
Secondly, after putting any old kind of Turbo Diesel oil in my Pug 405TD (1995 model) and it\'s now done 120K. Are there any benefits to putting Valvoline turbo diesel and Slick50 in it ? I intend to do a few more miles in it yet and it gets a good all round drive most of the year at various speeds etc.

Think twice before using ptfe type additives, do a search on the net for \"snake oil slick 50\" in countries with better consumer laws, they have been fined heavily for lying, and also Dupont who makes PolyTetraFluoroEthylene has sued them for false claims and damaging their brand.
Help.. Last week my exhaust started blowing , and while on the way to the exhaust fitters i was stuck in traffic, and the idle speed started to ramp from 900>2000 continually, i put this down to the exaust at first, but it has continued to rev ,only when the engine is hot, Read more
I had already cleaned the IAC but decided to try again, after your advice, and also sprayed WD40 into the IAC motor which seemed to free the actuator, this appears to have solved the problem, thanks for you input. I will update you to any changes.

I am glad Dubya has enjoyed his 8 hour visit to our hospitable and beautiful country today (or so he said) to cosy up with his old university classmate Gloria Arroyo but he sure has snarled up the traffic for 2 days where I live. 2 1/4 hours last night to get home 6 km: closed streets, anti-US rent-a-mobs, SWAT checkpoints, out of the car and get searched. One very nasty US person bullying the locals at one point as well, something you do here very ill-advisedly indeed.
You can't help thinking far from reinforcing US might all this stuff makes them look like a bunch of scaredy-cats. But then I suppose all that US aid comes with a price tag....
As Growlette said they would have done better apprehending all the Friday night drunk drivers...another point is that the Christmas Sales have begun (yes it's true, Santa is already in the stores vying with Hallowe'en) and the malls are choc a bloc as it is till gone midnight in this 24 hour city.
I asked my old air express company to get me an airside ramp pass so I could at least get some pics of Air Force One. No way.....

If you go for a speaker on or around 50 watts rms there won`t be a problem.Just make sure when buying the rating is rms root mean square means same value in volts it`s that simple
Vaux still recommend a change at 40,000 miles or 4 yrs on current models, AFAIA. I have a 2.2 Vectra auto and read somewhere that the chain should be changed at 100,000 miles. As for fuel consumption it is better than my old 2.0 litre Cavalier auto was by around 4 mpg. ie, I get on average 28mpg on urban use.
