Hi all,
I would like to know whats the tyre pressure on a VW Golf, they are 16in ......i think its 30psi?!?!...
cheers.. Read more
Interesting: the Dunlop site says 36 front and 32 rear for my VR6, whereas the sticker on the fuel filler cap says 37.7 front and 34.8 rear (converted from 2.6 and 2.4 bar). A non-trivial difference and I wonder why.
Direct Line have just requested I pay them £36.00 for insurance to protect my No Claims Bonus (70%). What are the pros and cons of having this insurance. When all is said and done is it good value for money?

No, not at all. Any insurer will honour your NCD level from a previous insurer if proof is given, and as your renewal notice will show how many you have got, the new insurer will honour it. It may rate you for any claims but not as much as if you had lost your NCD. A lot of companies offer this now so its quite common and accepted. Just say i have 7 years NCD from my last insurer. How many claims you have is a different question...;-)
Right ok, Nicolle phoned this am, leccy window on her clio 3 door has made a funny noise when going up. I assume she has been hit by the runner clips and stretched cable problem.
Seem to recall that there is a french and german car parts web site that keeps getting mentioned. Can someone oblige with the url? ta

My old style 2000X Corsa SXi is making a metallic clunking sound from the front which appears when nearly on full lock or manovering (ie steering) at low speed. It has been into Vauxhall dealerships 3 times now, and they continue to find nothing wrong. The noise has occasionally appeared at higher speed, but it isn't constant. My 3 year warranty is up in 3 weeks, and we want it sorted under the warranty.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what this is?
Thanks for the help,

Hi folks, using this site as my son is a regular visitor here and it comes highly recommended!
I recently got a new car and wanting to protect the Alloys I applied some Turtle wax Brake dust barrier. That was two weeks ago. Last week i washed the car and the wheels, and they looked ok Today when i washed the car the wheels had quite bad black stains on them, presumably from brake dust. the only way i could get it of was to use ColourBack, not something i want to do very often!
Has anybody else used the Brake dust Barrier and how did it work for you?
Any other products or hints at keeping Alloys clean? Also I have heard not to use Wonderwheels as it is corrosive? Anybody confirm that? Thanks. Read more
Prevention is better than cure.
As suggested above, EBC Green Stuff pads will stop dust forming. They are made from Kevlar, so I was told. I put them on the Omega many months back and Hey Presto! Clean wheels!
I am still amazed that I can wash the alloys with just a wipe with a wet sponge, just to get street dust off.
i have a rover 416sli n reg and iinstalled a new car stereo and now i have noticed my sidelights, fog lights, tail lights and dashboard lights. what could be the problem, do the sidelights etc run of a different circuit to main beam??? Read more
Head straight for the fusebox, and check out the fuse for the sidelights. Bet its blown. Change it, If it blows again, take out the radio. Change the fue and if its ok now, then recheck what you did, or get someone to fit the radio who knows what they are doing..
is it possible to get vibration from out off balanced wheels at just under 70 mph.even worse at 80mph but starts around 70.i have a year 2000 mondeo and fitted it with the tsw blades that i had on my mk1 mondeo.i know it is not the car coz they done it on my first mondy aswell.i got new tyres for them with a bigger side wall, from a 50 sidewall to a 60 sidewall for the ride qaulity.they were balanced then when the tyres were fitted,so what else can it be? Try to get the wheels balanced on the car. You will have to hunt around for a place that can do this, because most tyre places can't. Well worth it, though, when you do find somewhere. Can cure all sorts of vibration problems.
Thanks, DavidHM and Renault Family, now i know what it means HT LEADS...
In Portugal it calls "Sparks Cables"...
Thanks once again
