Can anyone help me with the part number for the XUD 1.9 injection nozzle [Bosch type].
all help appreciated. Read more
The CD300 radio/CD is my Vauxhall has a CD jammed in it, and stays on after the ignition is off thus flattenning the battery (see other thread on that prob).
Question here is:
- Do vauxhall offer a swap/replace service ?
- know a company who can repair/replace Vauxhall radios ?
- are there 3rd party units that will fit the Omega dash and use the MFD
Not looking for anything flash, just a basic radio/CD player rather than cd stack, GPS, mobile disco etc ;-)
Thanks,

Haven't seen too much in the way of good rear window humour lately but a VW Golf owner gave me a laugh at some traffic lights recently.
Sitting behind him and waiting for the lights to change, I noticed a very subtle and well engineered change to the badge on the back - it read 'Golf GiT'.
I wonder what %age of following drivers spot that one? Read more
Similar thing, HANG OVER instead of Range Rover
I've been looking at ford focus at auction.
I see one which is on sale tomorrow which is exactly what i want
1.6 Zetec 3dr, 51 reg 16k miles
haven't seen it yet but if spotless i'd be happy to pay 7,300 plus auction fees
Thing is it has no V5 document, nothing dodgy, it is being sold by reliable auction house on behalf of Ford Credit.
I guess the owner has not teturned it to finance house, maybe it has been repossesed.
If I bought it how long would it take to put on the road.
No V5 , no road tax ;-(
what is the procedure and how long does it take ?
any shortcuts ? Read more
If it is a repo, the customer didn't do themselves any favours by not handing back the V5. It could knock a grand or more of the final value.
Peugeot 306 DT 1997R (Auto air con fitted)
Fault - compressor not kicking in, nor fans, even though "green" light indicates A/C is on.
Happened once before 2 years ago - at some cost main dealer found a break in wiring?
I'd rather have a go at logically diagnosing the problem (and fixing it)
Anyone any suggestions about how to approach the problem. It more than likely is a broken wire as new clutch cable fitted very recently, which required one engine mount to be undone etc.

Prices don't look too bad. Pipes are now available from the aftermarket, but don't quite fit as well. And I wouldn't fit an aftermarket condensor as I can get a genuine Valeo for not much more. Agree what you say about the radiator, as if it's not leaking but is a bit old, there's every chance it will leak soon after being manhandled.
SWMBO had a puncture this morning, being the independant person she is, changed to spare and decided to get the tyre changed without speaking to me. She rang round and found the cheapest price for a reasonable tyre, turned out a shade over £30 for a Dunlop and took it in.
Later in the day she rang me and said that she had taken it to one of the fast-fit places, my heart sank as I tend to avoid them like the plague, she said that the tyre was irreparable and they had replaced it, rebalanced the wheel and fitted a new valve.
She then said that the fitter had noticed that the inside edge was worn and the tracking might be out and said he would check it, luckily they are doing a free tracking check this week; my heart sank further, was this the gullible customer meets track-rod end man I wondered?
Back he came and said no problem with the tracking, by the way I've put the wheel back on, replaced the cable tie that saves you losing wheel trims, and put the spare back in the boot.
SWMBO enquired as to the price,'Just the cost of the tyre, madam, everything else is included in that.'
Now you could argue that this is the sort of service that should be expected but in my experience is rare in these type of establishments and especially if you're only interested in one tyre at £30. So on this occasion credit where it's due, well done Formula One at Southend.

Suspected as much Cockle :-)
Apparently it needs a replacement engine but is otherwise OK. Mileage is about 70K I believe.
This is the story.
A colleague at work and her husband were driving it when something nasty happened in the engine. A piston disintegrated and some valves got bent. Car is now in a garage who have been asked to scrap it.
I phoned them up expecting to be told that they have 'bought' it and will be putting it back onto the road. But amaizingly they are not interested in doing anything with it. They don't want anything for the car but just want £60 to drop it off to me (app 20+ miles from their garage).
An engine should cost around £300 I assume and about £150 to fit, minus the possibility of selling the old one onto a recon outfit. Plus say another £100 or so for other minor repairs that may be needed, and I've got a car worth £1500 to £2000.
So, I'm thinking, where's the catch? It's apparently straight, some minor front end damage was fixed under 3rd party claim about a year ago, so hopefully that's up to scratch.
Questions:
1) What other cars (Citroen or Peugeot) would provide a similar engine? I was told that the Pug 406 uses the same engine, what about the 405 or similar?
2) If it all becomes a bad idea once the car is delivered and inspected could I either use it for spares for my 2.0L 16v Xantia (L reg) at 70,000 miles or fit my whole 2.0 Litre engine and box and drive train if needed into this car and have a much newer car? The problem is that my L reg has just passed an MOT without needing any work, so I've got another 12 months without having to worry about that.
3) Has the market suddenly dropped out of the Xantia market? I know that a lot of people hate them, so I would understand.
Any advice from Citroenheads out there?
Thanks

This is a 9yo thread . IIRC Hugo dissapeared from site c2004/5.
The Xantia generally was a decent car. I have a very late model - 2000/X 2.0 HDi LX estate. Owned it from new, paid around £11,500. ...
OK I am being incredibly sad/bored but...
Having read something about a Chevy Suburban in another post, I went to see what one was.
The biggest engine available is an 8.1 V8, with 'N/A' mpg. It only has 340bhp! Well 'only,' because this equates to what, 40-odd per litre? Its not that torquey either, relatively.
Are big American cars built with engines that should really develop more power because the designs are old or because they are tuned such that they last a long time?
Something Ive wondered about, thats all. Read more
Of the cars I have owned, the one with the smallest engine gobbled the most juice, especially on the motorway.
I run an 18 month old Passat which has given me no trouble over 8000 miles but I am due to take the car abroad for some high mileage driving. I am a little worried about all the info on USA websites regarding faulty ignition coils on this model and wonder if some knowledgeable person could give me an opinion and advice. My local Dealer, would you believe, has not heard of a problem!

I have a 2000w A4 i understand the problem is with 2001 to 2002 models (all cars with 1.8T ). As for the small diameter hole you mention it is in fact no smaller than the primera i had, extraction of the spark plug is as normal so it would not be possible to have a smaller hole, have i misunderstood? Also what has boost pressure got to do with it?. The ignition module fitted to mine is a half inch flat epoxyresin type device about 3x2" held down with 2 m5 allencaps at the bottom of which is the usual insulator over the plug attached, electrical sully is via a plug and socket arrangement, could it be this insulator is breaking down or of inferior material?
I've got a 15 month old VW Golf 1.9 TDi PD GT 130 that has covered just under 18,000 miles. After noticing that the discs looked a little scored I took it to the garage (F1 Autocentre) this afternoon. The net result is that it needs new discs and pads front and rear. There is plenty of life in the pads but the discs themselves are scored and corroded - even the guy at the garage was surprised at the state of the back ones.
Have I just been unlucky and should pay for the work to be done or should I press VW for a goodwill payment?
Thanks,

My Mark IV Golf SDI had scored rear discs at less than 2 years.
Apparently road muck settles on the calipers causing extra wear.
I complained that it was poor for a car of VWs high quality (flattery will get you anywhere) and replacements went through under warranty. Same problem with a Mark III Golfs drums. I got a heavy discount on new drums and shoes when it failed the first MOT.
Hope my current Passat does not go the same way.
Thanks guys :)
