Hi
I have new Mondeo and wonder if anyone else has the same query. The car is quite smooth idling in P or N but when stopped in gear the car vibrates. I also have a focus auto and it is smooth in both gears..any comments

Rover had a similar problem with the 400 series about 5 years ago. Fitment of a simple plastic washer cured the problem, once and for all.
I guess this problem will be sorted one way or another if Ford knows about it.
Kind regards
David
I have enjoyed them all, and reciprocate them all heartily!
It's just that Chamber's Biographical Dictionary does not inform me on Victor Meldrew..............

Best wishes to you all, too
Let me the first to announce a Christmas motoring present. Among the socks, skivvies, pyjamas and other things all either too large or too small (thank goodness we have M & S in Manila!) I found a Black & Decker Car Vacuum.
Nice piece of kit, considering it's made in China. I also got 5 car key rings (is this a record?).
Enough, its 1115, 37 degrees C and time to flare up the barbie. Read more
I was given a neat combo Fluxgate compass and Inside outside Temp unit... sits on the dash and looks like it came with the RR... Plan to install it this weekend and I think the temp probe should go on the inside of the Spoiler as close to the ground as I can get it to do a good job of reporting the road temp.

PS Non Road Related I got a super cool 16X9 23" Computer monitor by Sony... It is amazing!
Just to be the first sad soul to post on Christmad Day !!
And I see HJ lurking, so he might be first, but it'll be close.
Right, I'm off out to a party, may well be on-line tomorrow, but perhaps a little quiet and hungover.
Best wishes..

Just come back from central town, where I'd enjoyed an evening of soda-water and lime juice.
Persisting down here tonight, and I was down to 40km/h as the torrential rain made vision virtually impossible.
Arrived at a set of lights, only to have clown drive across my bows at high speed ... (my light was green). Fortunately I was able to stop in time.
I had a new set of Pirellis put on the front on Friday (good old Xmas bonus) but wonder what would have happened had I been driving on the old set of Dunlops, which were 'legal' according to tread depth ....
I get shivers just thinking about it. Read more
I took the bike in for a service last week and they changed the back tyre.
I hadn't thought it needed it, but looking at the old one it was down to the wear indicators in the centre of the tread.
The outsides were hardly worn so it looked OK on a casual inspection.
That's what comes of having an upright riding style and travelling mostly on straightish roads.
It's been an excellent year for hj.co.uk, and I wouldn't have wished it any other way. Things have been difficult in The Back Room sometimes, but things have been great too, exceeding even my wildest optimism.
I'm not going to mention names, because that smacks of cliques and favourites, but perhaps the best thing that's happened for me on a personal level has been the new friends I've made here. To you, as to everyone, I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a brilliant year in 2002. Thank you all.

A specific thankyou to you for all your hard work and excellent moderation.

A good Christmas to you and your family,
sincerely,

The vibration is caused because the engine is trying to drive the car through the torque converter but being held at rest by the brakes. Good modern auto boxes select neutral automatically when stationary with foot on brake, to avoid this. The Focus auto box may have this feature while the Mondeo auto box obviously hasn't.
