Why does my friend's Skoda Roomster lock him inside?

A friend of mine has a Skoda Roomster that is spacious and comfortable, but has a number of idiosyncrasies. On occasions it locks all the doors with him inside and all the electric windows become inoperable. If you move about to attract attention, the alarm goes off. Fortunately so far a passer by has come to the rescue and opened the driver's door (which is unlocked on the outside) and let him out. The Skoda dealer seems unable to help, your suggestions to solve the problem would be much appreciated.

Standard problem with most VAG cars for the past 20 years. Either he has pressed a button on the key remote for a second time, or the moisture has penetrated the ECU controlling the windows and doorlocks inside the driver's door.
