Why do my Skoda Roomster's windows stop working when it rains?

I have a 2007 Skoda Roomster. When it rains my electric windows don’t operate. After a dry day they work again. Is there a known problem with this fault? Now they have stopped working completely. Can you tell me where the component that operates the windows is located please?

This has been a well-known problem with VAG cars for more than 20 years. The locking and windows ECU is inside the driver's door, which is a very wet place, and eventually moisture penetrates the waterproofing and gets into the ECU. I receive two or three complaints every single week about this.

Another reason is accidentally pressing the keyfob buttons a second time then holding them down, but not in your case.
