How far can I drive with the fuel light on?

How would I know how many miles I can drive when the fuel light is on before I actually run out of petrol?

I wouldn't recommend running your car with the fuel light on. It'll fry the fuel pump by dragging all of the dirt out of the bottom of the tank.
