Excellent workhorse, comfy cruiser, practical and quick
Well, it looks like we got a good one.
Bought Aug 2012 with 113k on the clock, now at 127k, absolutely no significant problems at all.
A sticky cruise control switch was much improved by removing the column stalk and spraying with electrical contact spray.
The Vectra has the GM/Fiat 1.9 150 diesel engine which has real punch and excellent fuel economy. I got 700 miles on a tankful, continental autoroute/Autobahn.
The hatch boot is pretty good, i would imagine you could lose people in the tailgate of the estate.
The vehicle was bought with no aircon, this was (unsurprisingly) traced to a hole in the condensor.
I'm really enjoying the Vectra - I'm sure its reputation for faults is in part due to the sheer numbers of them out there.
