Paris Motor Show 2014: Hyundai to reveal i20 Coupe

Published 03 September 2014

Following on from the reveal of the new i20 hatchback, Hyundai has been quick to release a sketch of the forthcoming three-door version - dubbed the i20 Coupe. Designed and developed in Europe it will be launched in the UK next March with a performance version following later in 2015.

Rather than stick with the same bodyshape, the three-door version of the i20 will have a sleeker look, similar to the way Renault has the Megane Coupe and Kia the Pro-Cee'd. Not only will it look very different but will come with more powerful engines.

Hyundai has already hinted at performance models and is currently competing in the World Rally Championship with a current generation i20. So it's no surprise that a sporty 'N' version will be launched powered by turbocharged 1.4-litre engine.

The i20 Coupe will be based on the same new platform used on the i20 hatch complete with a redesigned interior that promises big improvement in quality and refinement. If the i10 is anything to go by, it should be very impressive indeed. Refinement should also be much improved.

The model will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on October 2 when we'll bring you all the news and latest models being unveiled live from the show.
