Frankfurt Motor Show 2017: All-new Dacia Duster for 2018 revealed

Published 30 August 2017

There's an all-new version of the Dacia Duster on the horizon. Set to be launched in the UK in mid-2018, Dacia is promising a more comfortable and better quality car. Prices are expected to remain unchanged with the cheapest Access version priced at around £9500.

While it's described as 'all-new' it is in fact based on the same platform as the existing Duster. It also means we get to use our favourite phrase of 'evolution not revolution' when describing the styling. Which is marginally better than Dacia's description of 'robust'.

It will use the same engines as the current Duster, albeit tweaked slightly for better economy. That means a 1.6 SCe petrol along with the newer turbocharged 1.2 TCe, which has really impressed us.

The 1.5 dCi will be the sole diesel option and the most economical too. Owners of the current model are seeing 44mpg plus according to Real MPG. As before there will be front-wheel drive and 4x4 versions.

There are no pictures of the redesigned interior yet but Dacia is promising a quality-feel and new equipment too. So expect more soft-touch materials, better switches and overall a less budget feel. A new infotainment touchscreen system is also in the offing.

A new paint colour, Atacama Orange, will be available along with LED daytime running lights on higher specification models.

Compared to increasingly bling alternatives which not everyone wants at up to 3 times the price, that looks a rather neat update of the model, and the new colour is very attractive.
