Hi all,

This is taking more time and effort than I thought it would !

My handbrake cable is held in place by 2 plastic clips..
the one which has snapped is connected to the plastic fuel tank.. (no 2)

Looking at how no 2 clip was attached,
it seems to have been melted into the tank...

Anywho, a cunning plan formed ;)
and I got a talon clip from the plumber's merchant for 12p
and tried epoxying it & supergluing it...
(roughing both surfaces first)
and neither are holding the clip on very well !

Part of the problem, I think?,
is that the plumbering clip is polypropylene
which is hard to glue to...

I'm not sure if the plastic fuel tank is polyethylene ?

Anyone any ideas?
I'm thinking of using a metal clip and trying to glue that on...
dunno if metal is allowed under a fuel tank
or if it'll even stick.to the tank..

I asked at Peugeot , and the clips are part of the fuel tank
...so it's a replacement fuel tank, otherwise..

Dunno, if it is a MOT fail as is, with the cable ties...?

I'm thinking diy metal atm... let's hope the glue (epoxy , superglue, will stick to the tank HDPE )

Maybe use something like a terry clip (the variety with the wide base) and glue it to the tank. If it's not hanging down I doubt it would be an MOT failure.

last night , I was even thinking of hluing some wood or metal , 3 inch by an inch
and then gluing a clip onto that .

the Terry clip looks just the job, thanks

It looks like a bit of careless jacking on the seam has caused the seam to bend and the paint damage.

yes, I am looking at that next..

It was trying to move the car sideways into the yard..to fix some other rust.
and one of the trolley jack swivelled over.

I'll go look see..

tbh, thinking about it, that would explian the indent, not the rust...
and I am real careful about jacking points,
so it must've been the last owner...

yup, the paint flaking away..
...that could be me... I hold my hands up

I had a trolley under each side's back jacking point,
as I was pushing the back end of the car into the yard
and once or twice, the trolley jack-knifed..

Tho', as I only, did the moving about, last week,
the rust must've been there all along,
waiting to poke its ugly head into the light of day,

The paint could've been like that for a while (months)
...to be honest , I never looked

Ah well, ya live and learn :)

Let's see if I can fix it...
and when I say "fix" , I do, of course,mean "botch" ;)

Thankfully, I have the trusty all-fix mechanics tool ;)

I'm having a closer look at it ...

It'll need a bit of tinkering... thankfully it looks worse than it is..

Hmm... I am beginning to wonder where the jacking point actually is !!
I'm sure that I am not alone !

Using a trolley jack , with the circular end,
which is the jacking point ?
A /C or B

I've been using A or C , as they seemed better for the cup of the trolley jack
but maybe the cup goes into B ?
with the indents of the cup holding onto B?

That's not what the Haynes Manual I have for a 106 says. It says, the jacking point is the part between the two horizontal bits on the bottom of the seam. Just saying :)

Haynes for a 106 ..1991 to 2004 (J reg onwards)

"The jack supplied with th vehicle locates in the jacking points in the ridge on the underside of the sill"

that must be somewhere else...
In the picture is it 1 2 3 4 5 or somewhere else?

the last poerson put the jack forward 8inches, and bent both undersides !

ps I had a tinker today...that little generator (£20) is good for small repairs / grinding , drilling etc
poundland's finest roof and gutter sealant saves the day ;)

and she jack the car using point "B"
