Should I have the EA189 "fix" completed on my 1.6 TDI Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion? I don't want to lose performance of fuel consumption.

If you have received the recall papers then you are one of the first to be called up for the EA189 1.6 TDI recall. What needs to be done is explained here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/golf-vi-2.../ (scroll down until you see the picture). The less complex 'fix' on 2.0 TDIs has substantially altered the performance, but we have yet to find out if the hardware and software fix for 1.6 TDIs works without detrimental effect.
