Which 4-6 year old estate should I get for reliability and driving pleasure?

A while back you recommended a Honda Civic for my daily commute. I'm mightily happy with it but now I need a petrol Estate. Up to say 6 years old, capable of carrying 5 adults and two dogs. Fuel economy is not so important but reliability and driving pleasure are key. I will keep the car for 6 years and lean towards Japanese makes for reliability. What could you suggest?

No reason not to stick with Civic. The Civic Tourer is ugly, but decent to drive and remarkably fuel efficient for a 1.8 i-VTEC.
