Can I delay my car delivery to get the new '14' reg?

My new Skoda Octavia vRS TDI Combi is due at the dealer this coming weekend; however, this is four weeks later than the dealer promised. Can I prolong the delivery by a week or so to 1 March to get a '14' reg?

The dealer might do this for you if you make up any loss he might incur by not registering the car to you in February. So negotiate. A 14 rather than a 63 reg is instantly worth around £1,000 more, diminishing in comparative value over the years.
