  In my Ford Focus (UK) petrol owner's guide it says that 5w30 engine oil should be used at all times for optimum performance. However, further down the page below where it says engine oil top-up it says that 5w30, 10w40 or 5w40 oil can be used albeit with reduced fuel economy, performance etc.

  Hello, We bought a '06 1.25 Fiesta Zetec in June 2008, and have just started getting problems with the gearbox (I think) as its not going into 3rd properly. The car has done 10,500 miles, and was serviced at Ford Evans Halshaw dealer I bought it from in June '08 on 9,200 miles. This should have been its second service, it has missed its first year. The ford books say the car must be serviced every 12 months or 12,000 miles which ever comes first.

  I bought an August registered 04 plate Focus Zetec from Ford Direct 10 days ago. Whilst I am generally happy with the car there are two problems that I have since discovered. The first is an area of rust at the rear of the car, under the boot hatch where the top of the bumper meets the metal.

I plan to test drive all of these apart from the Ka which I have driven before and quite liked.

  Water is coming into the tailgate of my Ford Mondeo, making the carpet and spare wheel well very wet. I have carried out tests with the aid of a watering can and masking tape, and these tests have determined that water is entering, not through the tailgate rubber seal, but through the sealing on the nearside rear light cluster.

  I have informed my insurers of the incident, but not made a claim   I’m afraid if my insurers come to inspect my car they may try to write it off as a category S. I do not think the damage is significant, but there is a small dent in the fender and the gap between the fender and the hood is very slightly larger than the other side. I have read accounts of cars being written-off/put in category S for seemingly minor things, so am a bit worried.
