Ford Escort Xr3i(83-86) no on road? 29 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Two questions! 1) How do you get info on how many of a particular car are still on the road? 2) How many Ford Escort XR3i hatchbacks 1983-86 are still going? As always, any help greatfully appreciated. After a more difficult than anticipated search, I have bought one. Totally standard and in good condition. -
Ford Fiesta Mk5 1.25 Towbar 27 Jul 2005 (Forum)
I am looking at fitting a detachable towbar to my Fiesta 1.25. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that can supply one? I got a quote from Ford of around £400 unfitted and another make (Brink) had over a 6 week wait for one. Also does anyone know where I can find the maximum tow weight for the car? I have looked in the handbook which directs you to the VIN plate but gives no explanation of the codes used on it. -

Ford Ka Clutch squeak 21 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I recently bought a 98 Ford Ka for my daughter to learn in. There is an occasional high pitched squeak when releasing the clutch. Friends have suggested it could be caused by movement of the engine causing something to rub - probably not expensive, an engine mount on the way out - agin probably not too expensive or the clutch thrust bearing on the way out - probably expensive. -
Ford oils 27 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I have been to a RapidFit (Ford) garage to see about an oil change for my Rover 420SLDi Turbo. They recommend their 15/40 oil which appears to be a mineral oil, their 10/40 also seems to be a mineral oil and only their 5/30 is semi-synthetic. -
Ford Ka oil change 29 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Been contacted by a friend who this weekend is out to impress his girl friend by carrying out an oil change to her Ford Ka. Has some considerable mechancically aptitude with two wheel machines but wonders and asks: 1. The location of the sump plug on a 1.3 Ka?. 2. Is a standard Hex used to loosen or a key? 3. Location of the filter? -
Ford Escort Heater Problem 17 Nov 2003 (Forum)
My daughters Ford Escort 1600 heater fan as stopped working. I've been asked to sort the problem. Having looked at the Haynes Manuaul problem could be either:- 1) Fan Motor 2) Three Position switch 3) Relay mounted at the back of the fuseboard As the fan is not working in all three positions it must be a fault that is common to all three speeds. -

Results of Ford Diagnostic - Zetec-SE 3 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hey all Following on from a few previous posts I have had some results from my local ford garage regarding the hesitancy upon hard acceleration in my 1.25 Zetec-SE: Apparently conflicting fault codes - one is a breather pipe and the other is a problem with speed sensor. They have cleared the memory and have asked me to come back in 500miles (40 cycles?) -

The car is moving! 31 Dec 2001 (Forum)
The latest edition af 'Car' magazine features an ad for the Ford Puma, wuth the tag-lne 'There's a storm Brewing'. And - shock horror! - the wheels appear to be turning! My God, does this mean that Ford are actually promoting the idea that we should drive our cars? -
Ford Mondeo or BMW 5 series (E34) 4 Jul 2001 (Forum)
I need a reliable saloon for between 20-30k miles per annum. The car will occasionally be used for towing a small car/boat. I am looking at 1997 + MY Ford Mondeo or a E34 5 series (535i?). Fuel economy is irrelevant as private and businesspetrol is paid for. What sort of money should I be looking at, considering I will keep the car for about a year and will get a better deal buying from an auction -
