Xantia electrics 20 Oct 2002 (Forum)
As s**s law would dictate in this cold weather, the heater fan for the passenger compartment has given up the ghost along with the rear screen demister. I've tested the fan which works fine, so it can't be that, so therefore resorted to stripping the dashboard out to see if there was a loose connection as the fan sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. -
I feel good....... 23 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Now I feel prepared for the Saturday routine, I've now got the boys out of bed and will shortly be taking them to football practice, a spot of DIY followed by feet up to watch the Scots defeat the French in the rugby. (OK the last thing might be a bit hopeful!) I do like having a bike. Rob S -

Ford are claiming that a spark plug is responsible for bore damage leading to a replacement of the no.4 short block. This has led to a bill of £3500 which dealers have agreed to pay half. They are refusing the claim because spark plugs are only vcovered for one year. -

Recommend me a used car 1 Jun 2025 (Forum)
Requirements: - large enough to fit 4 people and boot space for suitcases and a dog - enough torque for swift driving & comfortable for motorway cruising - cheap to maintain (insurance group, road tax, fuel efficient) - max budget 15K, but ideally below 14K, and up to 5 years old...? Current car has been great - averaged 48mpg, zero road tax, spacious and a good engine with plenty of power. However it seems that used Volvos really aren't as cheap as they were when I purchased my V60! -
Skoda Octavia - 14-17k used car suggestions 3 Mar 2024 (Forum)
.£15k range. Usage 6k annually expected mainly on weekends to local shops or weekend getaways. Prefer max 4yrs age with 30k odd mileage, automatic, not hybrid as stay in a flat. May want to resell it in 3-4yrs to upgrade. So ideally looking at a car with good resale value. Have narrowed on Skoda Octavia 2020/2021 models, or maybe a Superb 2020. -
Performance Family Car 24 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Although I want safety I also care about the environment and I personally have a bit of a difficulty trying to convince myself to go the SUV route and would rather avoid if possible as well as the fact we do a lot of town driving with occasional 2-4hr drives every couple of months (so want to go petrol). Budget max £20k - thoughts? -
any - DV6 Engine as fitted to the1.6 HDICitroen/Peugeot 27 Aug 2018 (Forum)
From my understanding of the cause centered on the injector mounting studs and incorrect servicing allowing Aftrer 2 attempts at sorting the problem, I eventurally became sick and traded in on for my current car, which I am looking to swap later this year for a small SUV, a 2008/Captur or a C Max I am a little worried that 2 of these vehicles had the HDI unit, be that the later generation with thhe injectors at the back, away from the heat of the turbo and EGR, could suffer the same problem. -
From HJ news - Government supports crackdown unfair parking fines 1 Feb 2018 (Forum)
£10 first hour £20 second hour. Daily charge £50 max Our local Asda (others are available) says 3 hours free parking but tell security if you want to stay longer. Wickes (at least here in Colchester will let you register your vehicle if you are doing a project and liable to be in and out. -
Renault Clio 0.9L TCe 90 BHP or 1.2L 16v 75BHP - Renault Clio 0.9L TCe 90 BHP or 1.2L 16v 75BHP 30 Jan 2018 (Forum)
The garage keeps saying that the 0.9L is the faster engine but when I test drove it the acceleration was slow and the car was maxing out at 70 mph. I wanted to test drive a 1.2 16v but they didn't have one and kept saying it was slower as it's only 75BHP. But the thing is I have had a 1.2 16v previously (a Vauxhall Corsa) and that had fast acceleration and could reach 90mph no problem. -
Renault Megane 1.9 science 2002 - Renault Megane Dci EGR valve 26 Dec 2016 (Forum)
He car has been well serviced over its life regular oil changes every 5000 miles etc, but for e last five or six years it had been used purely as a town car going 60 miles an hour for a max of 30 mins each trip once a week and 30 miles an hour everywhere else. My question is, as honest John says the 1.9 and 1.5 dci, use ear valve to cool turbo, will it have caused damage or as it's an older model have I got of lightly? -
Any - Torque converter autos-waiting at junctions etc 25 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Or would this result in too much heat buildup and wear it out that way? This is assuming the car is stopped for a max of about 2 minutes. Having recently driven someone elses auto and told to put it into N at junctions, I thought maybe you guys could settle the debate! Cheers, PCharlton
