• Fiesta floppy gear stick! 8 Jan 2004 (Forum)
  It reminded me of a problem I had years ago with my Talbot Solara which had about fifty selector rods and springs and all sorts of ball joints to get the damn thing through the gears - one day one of the balljoints popped out of a socket and I could only get a certain gear/ The Fiesta only appears to have a rod and some form of stabiliser shft/rod so this can not be the problem here - can the problem be cured as a DIY job (ie replace gear shaft rod(s) or is it a gearbox problem best left to Uncle Henry (Ford) - amusingly my work colleague has just admitted that she has a mechanic uncle called Uncle Henry! Thanks in advance.

  Hi. I have a 1989 Ford Escort with a crude flywheel/valve/mechanically operated ABS on the front wheels. It has passed the MOT before, however i'm not sure if they tested the ABS :-S. Basically the front-left ABS unlocks the brakes when the wheel locks.

  Do not expect much more than £7k for any petrol V70 3 or more years old with 60k plus on the clock. Volvo depreciation is now very much in the Ford Scorpio, Vauxhall Omega department (look at the auction reports on this site for starters) as far as the trade is concerned, more's the pity. Still might go for one if I can find a decent deal though.

  We are paying cash But we dont want to pay more than 10 grand for a car which on the whole is nothing more than a van with 3 seats in the back and a sliding door. I have visited 6 ford dealerships. Even wit the ford family discount i am entitled to, the cheapest pre reg tourneo I can pick up is £15,000, an increadible price (list price is £18k plus!). The dealership staff themseves have commented how expensive this vehicle is.

I emailed the seller who advised that the noise went away after a while. Picked up the car and to be honest everything worked perfectly apart from the tapping noise.

  In March 2009, I purchased a Jaguar Approved Used Car from Guy Salmon, Jaguar main dealer in Northampton. The car, a 4.2 S Type R, first registered in March 2004, had done 17,000 miles at purchase and has now covered just 29,000 miles. The car has been fully serviced by Jaguar main dealers throughout its life and was last serviced 2000 miles ago.
