Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 2.0 TDCI Engine Noise. 2 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 2.0 TDCI with 94k on the clock (I bought the car in Dec 08 with 90k on the clock). The car has a full Ford Service history, starts first time every time, pulls well in all the gears and generally seems to go ok. However one thing has been playing on my mind. Reviews of the TDCI engine mention how quiet it is. -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - Child Safety/NCAP tests 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have been reading up on the NCAP tests for various cars that I have been thinking of buying (including the BMW 3 series and the Ford Mondeo). Both of these score well for child safety (39 - 4 stars) BMW - http://www.euroncap.com/tests/bmw_3_series_2005/225.aspx Mondeo - http://www.euroncap.com/tests/ford_mondeo_2007/299.aspx However, most NCAP descriptions give details of what exactly happened to the child dummies, for example with the BMW it says that "Both were well protected throughout." -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 04 1.8 Glow Plug Light Flashing And Cut Outs 17 Aug 2009 (Forum)
No faults found on diagnostics either by this garage or AA. Any help or ideas on what may be causing this would be greatly appreciated! Booked in to Ford on Monday, I don't want to be fobbed off or be paying for this I shouldn't! -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 engine systems failure 27 Jul 2009 (Forum)
hi everyone, i have been having intermittent problems with my focus over the last couple of months, which now seem to be getting more frequent, and i wondered if anyone else has experienced this or got an ideas how to sort it out. when i turn the ignition on i get a message saying 'engine systems failure', this is swiftly followed by a message saying 'speed limit mode'. on tick over it idles at just over 1000rpm which fluctuates significantly, when trying to acclerate there is an extremely slow pull off, with a maximum speed of 20mph reached. i have usually be able to correct this by turning the engine off and restarting again after a couple of minutes, with the car running normally and no error messages displayed. however this is becoming more frequent now, and i dont fancy going to ford's to be charged an arm and a leg to fix something simple i could do myself. so if anyone has had the same problem or ideas how to sort it out i'd be very grateful. gary -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.8 TDDi Whining noise under acceleration 23 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I've heard of 'turbo whine' but I'm not sure what kind of sound this generates. In terms of turbos, is this getting into expensive-to-fix territory? Ford want £85 just to look at it for an hour, it's got to the stage where I need to find a good independent garage in/around Derby methinks. Again - any suggestions would be most welcome! Many thanks Pootle -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - recently bought car has had previous crash repair? 15 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I purchased a Ford Focus on the 16th Jan 2008 from a rather large Scottish Motor Dealer. It is a 2006 model, 1.8 TDCI Zetec. The car started producing excess road noise in the rear right hand side. I had a local garage check it out and it turns out it has been repaired quite substantially in that area. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 UK Engine cooling system question? 24 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I have a 99 Ford Focus 1.8 (petrol) with 79k miles. I went to a local mechanic today because I was concerned by some condensation on the inside of the coolant reservoir. He said that it is normal to have condensation on the inside surface of the reservoir whether the engine is hot or cold. -
Choice modifications to a Ford Focus. 9 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Any advice or suggestions would be very welcome. Ideas: Wheels & tyres- Upgrade to 16'' from 15'' buying used set on eBay (Ford parts). Tyres need replacing anyway as they are all original. Brakes- Order good quality discs & pads on net, garage to fit. Only drums on rear, replace if need be. Suspension- Upgrade springs & dampers? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 2.0 TDCi - Eng. cut off/Glow plug light is on 28 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I am guessing that it may have some thing to do with the injector pump, possibly the cam sensor but i'm only clutching at straws. I will have to take it to either ford dealer or diesel specialist. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it may be causes the engine to cut and stop whilst in motion? -
Ford Cougar (1998 - 2000) - LPG conversion on 2000 2.5 v6 automatic. 22 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hi All, I'm after some of your valuable advice and opinions I have just been offered my parents ford cougar as they are buying a new car, they are giving it to me pretty much for nothing so im very tempted. The car is in mint condition with 100k on the clock and has all the extras and leather interior and i know it has been well looked after with a full service history. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 94 1.6i -Power loss 11 Jun 2008 (Forum)
To add a twist to all this, i was attempting to accellerate down the slip-road of the motorway the other day, & just as i joined the carriage-way hitting 3500 revs it felt like i had just had a rocket shoved up my butt, & the thing took-off like a scalded mule, & seems to running close to normal at the moment, albeit still idling lumpy. My garage said it was the EGR Valve that needs replacing, curious as it is a petrol engine, Ford say it could be the TPS, Potentiometer, or Air Charge Sensor. Has any one got any ideas. The car is seviced every 12 months, so all the usuall bits like plugs, leads, filters, etc are ok. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - water run off from tailgate glass each side edge 25 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Like I said the Honest John road report of the mark 2 focus mentions this and have one of the last ones (Jan 2008) and I am at a loss as to why Ford themselves never did a fix on this all the time the mark 2 model ran. There must be owners of mark 2s that have done a fix on this. assistance please. Thanks Old Lag -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2001 (Y), 1.8 TDDi Ghia 15 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Everything else on the report checks out OK - I'm not expecting it to be a glowing report on a 7-year old Ford, but all the same I need to do my best to make sure I'm not buying into a big problem. I would really appreciate any comments on how best to proceed? -
Ford - Mondeo IV (2007 -) diesel or petrol 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Having had a number of engine issues with my current diesel Focus, namely DMF, starter motor, injectors and auxillary belt tensioner I am wondering whether another diesel is a good idea or not, particularly when the last time I was at the Ford dealership the Service Manager said "great engines these TDCI's as long as they are in warranty, after that get rid of it"! I would probably look to keep the car for 5 years and do upto 15k a year. -
Focus - Noisy Steering 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
It has covered 27000 and shortly after a recent 25000 service, I noticed a grinding noise from the steering when turning at very low speeds such has entering and exiting my drive. My local Ford dealer has inspected the car and informed that the top shock absorber rubber mountings need changing but the track rod ends are OK (I did mentioned the TSB I've read about on this forum regarding these) Apparently the warranty does not cover suspension parts after 1 year but Ford will contribute 70% leaving me with a £66 bill. -
New Ford or old Honda 22 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have been given the option to buy the Accord at £12600 from the leasing company and as the car has been well looked after and only been driven by me this is tempting. However, I have found I could replace the Honda with a 06/56 plate Ford Mondeo Diesel Titanium (9000 miles) for similar money and this being a very new car benefit from the manufacturers warranty. Alternatively, I could purchase a comprehensive gold warranty from Warrenty Direct for around £320 per year for the Honda which is also quite reasonable. -
High mileage Focus advice wanted? 8 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Is the TDi engine any good? or at least better than the Astra DTi/previous ford diesels? Anything else I should watch out for on this model? Any thoughts out there? Tony PS. Yeah, I know the TDCI is a better engine, but I ain't got that sort of cash about at the mo! -
Ford Fiesta 1.0 H Reg (Oil using) 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi folks, I am pretty clueless when it comes to cars I'm afraid. I finished Uni last year and bought a Ford Fiesta 1.0 from a local garage (H reg). It is in great condition and has been a very good runner so far. I bought it as a little run-around, but then I got a job that involves a far bit of mileage (around 200-300 miles per week) and am worried that it is too much for such a small car. -
Used new shape Mondeo fair price? 10 Feb 2003 (Forum)
The vehicle is a July 2001 Y reg new shape Mondeo 5dr hatchback, it is usual LX spec, 4xEW 6xAB ac etc, etc, metallic, has non standard ford alloys, has only just turned 20,000 miles with an up to date service record. It is also taxed til July and has 18 months of Ford Direct warranty left up to Aug 04. My local Ford dealer is still advertising the same vehicles, without alloys or tax, but obviously with warranty, for as much as £8995. -
More electric gizmos 19 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Adding to the new safety features, Ford has produced a headlamp surround with a 'deformable' housing that pushes the lamp into the body of the car in a crash, so that the lens cover does not break and cut pedestrians' legs. The devices were researched and designed by British, German and American engineers at Ford's research centre in Aachen, Germany.
