  I was worried it could be something else but the fact it stops when the brakes are on tells me that it is most likely the pads rattling and when pressure is applied the pads are held in place and the rattly stops.  I was planning on getting new genuine ford pads fitted. Does this sound like im on the right track?? has anyone had a similar issue? what was it?

  I bought a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Titanium X, reg 13/09/2006, in July last year from Ford Direct with 8989 miles on her. In April with 14,900 miles I noticed my rear offside wheel was starting to show signs of some sort of corrosion. I have been in contact with Ford CRC finally ending up in getting a written response from them detailing, "water has seeped under the lacquer causing the alloys to corrode" and "alloys need to be replaced as refurbishment is not an option is in this instance due to the material that the alloys are made from" (Exact quotes).

  The problem is totally arbitrary ie it can happen when the engine is cold or hot, in low gear or in high gear and in different weather conditions. I have had new leads and spark plugs fitted and it has been hooked up to Ford diagnostics and shows no error codes. The guys at my local Ford garage have contacted Ford UK but have been told this isn't a known problem. Unfortunately in their 5 mile test drives the car has never replicated the problem.

  According to the new Ford Focus manual tyre pressures for 205/55 R 16 Diesel engines with normal load up to 3 persons is 34 lbf front and 34 lbf rear. According to the plate on the drivers door inside they should be 33 lbf for front and rear.

  My first though was serpentine belt or water pump but the belts fine and no leaks/ temperature increases from the engine. I Took it back to Ford, they were unable to find the noise but did say new petrol kuga can be noisy. Apparently it’s normal as newer fords to have selonoids and these do make rattle sounds sometimes. Wanting a second opinion, I took it to another garage.
